You have to attend this festival to appreciate how good it is. The audience is full of fellow creatives from film directors and producers to writers and actors. The collective vibe is an inspirational utopia. The Festival Director Francis Saunders is brilliant in how he comperes the whole event incorporating film maker Q and A's after each film wherever possible. Creating a supportive atmosphere which is the charm of this first class friendly festival. Jayne the event co-ordinator is a proper people person and makes you feel welcome from the second you arrive. Also they show a plethora of fantastic films. A must go to festival.
It attracts filmmakers from all over the world. We met some brilliant filmmakers who had flew over from Hollywood to Hastings. Such is the high esteem this festival is held in. Make sure you are there in 2024.

Thank you to Francis and Jayne, the Team behind South Coast Film Festival in Hastings who selected my indie feature `Mother & Wild'. I enjoyed meeting the other filmmakers, the German ones were very cool. My only gripe and I don't blame Francis for this. My Q&A was cut very short as Francis had to attend an emergency, he would usually engage with the filmmakers and ask though provoking questions. Though, I was very grateful for the 2-3 questions that were asked about the film itself.

  • Hastings was such a wonderful city and we were so glad to be able to experience it. Francis & Jayne put a lot of hard work into the festival, and it showed. Was so cool to meet filmmakers from both England and around the world. Talked with a lot of great people. The theater was a great space, and definitely a bonus having an in-house bar (with cheap drinks to boot). Would highly recommend submitting & participating.
