The Southampton International Film Festival is a unique event where all filmmakers and film lovers can be treated like Hollywood Royalty. When it comes to Independent Films, We have had many successful years in the industry.

We have been a part of independent film distribution, independent movie making and the management of other International Film Festivals, we started in 2009, we currently have over 40 films in the market and have helped run five other film festivals.

Every year many of our participants and visitors tell us that highlight of the event is the socialising VIP dinner held on the first day of the festival, the VIP evening events held every evening and of course our Awards night.

We are able to provide our guests with a taste of what even the biggest movie makers experienced as they tried to introduce their films into the world. Telling their story has been a vital part of the success of our festivals.

We can't wait to see you at our festival and look forward to chatting to you about your film and future projects. If your just here to enjoy the festival we hope to sit down and debate the many aspects of the films and see your choice for film of the festival.

We typically have 35-40 awards across all categories, including Best Film of the Festival, Best Feature, Best Short Film, Best Documentary, Best Animation, Best Short Documentary, Best Comedy, Best Student Film, Best Horror/Thriller Film, Best Director, Cinematography, Original Score, Screenplay, Editing, Visual Effects, Sound Design, Costume Design, Production Design, Hair & Make-Up and more!

Films submitted in the incorrect category will be automatically disqualified, & any fees paid will not be reimbursed.
At our discretion, we may choose to transfer a film to the correct category, but only if the appropriate level of submission fee has been paid. Any excess fees paid will not be reimbursed.

This is a great small festival. Second time around, I was unable to participate in a lot of the events, but they are available and I made great connections the first time around with whom I reacquainted myself this year. Lots of fun.

Two downsides: filmmakers were expected to buy passes to events that probably should have been free. Having said that, I was allowed to attend my film screening for free, so maybe I misunderstood the rules. The place that my film was screening was not a great place for watching film. It was open to the lobby/food area and the traffic was loud making it hard to hear the films. Also, sight lines were not all that great.
The festival could have used a bit more marketing to the community. People in the street that I talked to had no idea the festival was going on. It takes work to promote these things to the outside community and a lot of festivals have a hard time with this, so it's not that unusual. Still I feel I need to mention it as something Southampton could work on. There are festivals in my region (Media and Jim Thorpe, for instance) that have done great outreach to their communities and as such get huge crowds in for the screenings.

Southampton International Film Festival is definitely one of the Best festivals we've attended. Such a brilliant selection and variety of films were shown in great venues, alongside really fun events that made it easy to meet the other filmmakers. A truly fantastic festival for films, networking & fun, that makes everyone feel welcome! We'll definitely be returning. Thanks so much Emily, Peter & Team!

Unfortunately we weren't able to attend. But the festival communication was awesome. No hassles getting them what they needed from us and they did a great job promoting their screenings on social media. Hopefully next time we're able to attend.
