Sorry Not Sorry (SNS) is a platform for new and emerging filmmakers to share and re-imagine the meanings of Asianness. Co-founded by a group of artists, activists, and scholars in New York, SNS is a completely volunteer-run and not-for-profit community organization.

We are now launching a short film project that invites filmmakers from the world, and calls for films that play with the multiplicities of East Asian identities, be it in an East Asian context, or diasporic experiences. SNS will introduce the 2022 Final Selection to audiences in New York via in-person screening events.

At SNS, we celebrate care and joy as resistance and turn to playfulness as a powerful tool in cinema to challenge the dominant narratives about “East Asianness” in the United States. Intentionally taking on a playful gesture to shake up the imposed labels, we aim to provide filmmakers, especially those of Asian backgrounds, with a platform to support their works that come from different (oftentimes, marginal) positions and tell the stories otherwise.

Sign up today or before our June 15th deadline. We can’t wait to have you join the party!

  • This was an amazing opportunity and thrilled to be selected to be part of this curation of global works. As this was the inaugural event can't comment on networking aspect as it was done remotely - online.
But the organisation and communication was great. Would happily submit again to this festival and recommend too
