The 7th-annual Siouxland Inspirational & Historical Short Film Festival will be held Sunday, Nov. 8, 2026 at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center in Sioux City, Iowa. A variety of short films will be shown at 2:00 p.m. in the auditorium. A discussion by attending filmmakers and treats will follow. Admission is free!
This Film Festival is produced through the Siouxland Filmmakers Club, and offers a venue to show our films and those of other talented filmmakers in the region, the U.S. and beyond. With no cash prizes, free admission for the audience and a generous host location, we have among the lowest-cost filmmakers' entry fees in the movie world.
Our film festival seeks to be an alternative to the Hollywood sex, violence and immorality permeating much of the movie industry. We are looking for positive films with highly-moral characters, who are involved in life-affirming plots and clean-language dialogues.
Last year's results:
The audience at 6th annual filmfest on November 9th, 2025 at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center voted first place to "Zoey versus AI Microwave," a 11- minute Hi-Tech kitchen comedy, produced by the small crew of the Siouxland Filmmakers Club.
This comedy narrowly beat out another locally-produced film, Dear John, by just one lone vote. The black and white post Korean War bittersweet love story was also filmed in Sioux City.
Historian Russ Frye's story about Almira Fales, a Civil War nurse from Iowa, came in third.
The 6 - annual film fest was held in the middle of a power outage with the event moved to a cafeteria room when the auditorium projector would not work. The movies were shown to a packed room of enthusiastic viewers on a big screen TV, which fortunately still had an emergency power supply.
Attendees will be able to vote on their favorite short films for a People’s Choice Award. Top vote-getters will receive notification; no cash prizes with our low-budget operation. Winners still get bragging rights! Please notice the low entry fees. Films between 3 to 20 minutes in length are preferred.
Filmmakers are encouraged to attend the festival and admission is free. A reception will occur following the performance. Revenues from this nonprofit Festival will be used to support Festival expenses and Siouxland Filmmakers Club projects. All decisions by the video-screening committee and the People's Choice votes will be final.
