We don’t pass your life’s work to interns or automated screeners. At SFSF, your project is guaranteed to be reviewed by an elite panel of active, world-class professionals.

Our Official Jury and network feature top-tier talent, including a BAFTA Award-winning director, Cannes Film Market alumni, and respected professionals affiliated with the PGA (Producers Guild of America), DGA (Directors Guild of America), and the Goya Awards. When you submit to us, you are putting your story directly into the hands of artists who have mastered the craft at the highest level.

Awards & Prizes

At the heart of the Singapore Film and Script Festival stands our signature distinction: The Golden Merlion Award, a symbol of artistic excellence inspired by Singapore’s iconic emblem of creativity, strength, and vision. This award honors the standout project of each season—one that represents exceptional storytelling, innovation, and cinematic craft.

Winning the Golden Merlion places your project among the most distinguished works of the year and highlights it across our global network of partner festivals and industry platforms. It is our highest recognition, reserved for films and scripts that truly elevate the art of storytelling.

At the Singapore Film and Script Festival (SFSF), we are committed to providing transparency and celebrating success at every level of our competition.

Judging Statuses:
To ensure full recognition at every stage, we use the following official judging statuses:
○ Semi-Finalist: Projects that impressed our jury and stood out in the first round of evaluations.
○ Official Selection: The elite films and screenplays chosen by our jury to be part of the festival. Official Selections will be screened via our platforms and are eligible for category awards.
○ Award Winner: The top projects selected by our jury from the Official Selections in each category.

Recognition and Prizes:
Every project that achieves a judging status (Semi-Finalist, Official Selection, or Award Winner) will gain access to our Official Laurel Center for their designation and receive a Personalized Official Diploma.

Special Promotions for Official Selections & Winners:
All Official Selections and Award Winners will receive dedicated promotion via our online marketing platforms and social media channels.

Exclusive Prizes for Award Winners:
In addition to the recognition above, our Award Winners receive special discount codes to our partner festivals. This exclusive benefit offers a significant boost in your film's visibility across the global film industry world.

Rules & Terms

Submission & Content Guidelines
1. Originality and Rights: Every film submitted must be the entrant's original work and cannot infringe upon the copyrights or rights of any third parties. It is the filmmaker’s sole responsibility to secure all necessary permissions for music, sound, images, and any other copyrighted material included in the film.
2. Language Requirement: Films where the primary dialogue is not in English must include accurate, burned-in English subtitles for consideration.
3. Length Limit: Submissions classified as short films must not exceed a running time of 35 minutes.
4. Multiple Entries: We happily accept multiple submissions from the same filmmaker or submitter.

Technical & Viewing Requirements
5. Filmmaker Responsibility for Viewing: Filmmakers are fully responsible for ensuring their video files play correctly and, if applicable, have proper English subtitles. A film that cannot be viewed or is incomplete at the time of judging will be automatically disqualified without a refund. If you encounter any technical issues with your submission, please contact us immediately, we are here to assist you!

Festival Rights & Discretion
6. Screening Rights: By submitting your film, you grant us the right to screen your film at our live event and, if specific circumstances require it, at an online screening.
7. Screening Lineup: Please note that we reserve the right to adjust the final screening lineup at our discretion, which may include not screening every nominated film.
8. Final Decisions: The decisions made by the selection committee are final and non-negotiable.
9. Festival Changes: We reserve the right to make necessary changes, including the rescheduling or cancellation of festival dates, venues, award categories, and program details.

Administrative & Agreement
10. Refund Policy: Generally, refunds are not available after the notification date. Any requests for a refund will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
11. Agreement and Communication: By submitting your work, you agree to all our terms and conditions and consent to receive festival news, marketing updates, and special offers via email. Rest assured, your personal information will never be sold to third parties.
