We are inviting filmmakers of African descent from across the continent and the diaspora to submit exceptional short animation films for our upcoming Shorts, Shorts & Shots Animation edition in October in Nairobi, Kenya.
We are looking for bold, original, and memorable animated stories that entertain, inspire, and challenge audiences. We welcome films that reflect authentic African experiences, perspectives, cultures, imaginations, and identities, whether contemporary, historical, speculative, personal, or experimental.

Inspiring, entertaining, and thought-provoking animated films
Original storytelling and distinctive creative vision
Authentic stories rooted in African experiences, voices, and perspectives
Innovative, out-of-the-box approaches to animation and narrative
High production quality and strong artistic execution
Films that stand out and leave a lasting impression
Eligibility:
Open to filmmakers of African descent living on the continent or in the diaspora
Animation films of any genre or technique (2D, 3D, stop-motion, mixed media, experimental, etc.)
Maximum runtime: 15 minutes
Preferred runtime: 10 minutes or less
Films must be more than 5 minutes long to be considered
Films must have been completed or officially released after January 2023
Films must be available in a high-quality screening format

Authenticity of voice and perspective
Overall impact and audience engagement
