Also, we provide chance for MOSCOW film creators to take a chance in showing our beautiful city in their movies.

How we do?

Choose one or more categories and submit your short film.

Usually, our submissions start on 1th-4th of the month and end on the same day next month.

EACH submitted film will receive a short review from our judge team (on request)

PLEASE NOTE: We don't screen the films online! The members of the jury watch the films online and they choose the Official Selections.

In 5-7 days after the deadline day for submissions we publish the Official Selections list and we notify the filmmakers via e-mail.

During the next 5 days our members of the jury decide the winners for each category.
After that we publish the Winners list and we notify filmmakers by e-mail. The lists are published on social media and on our dedicated website: shortshotfest.com

In the last week of the month we screen the awarded films in art - center "Efir" in the heart of Moscow.
From August, 2024 we are OPEN for new season 2025/2026!
The Grand Finale 2025/2026 will be held in August, 2026 in Moscow.

Awards & Prizes

Certified diplomas signed by leading movie filmmakers.

Rules & Terms

Only projects submitted on FilmFreeway are considered.

Films not in English language must have English subtitles.

No premiere requirements, and films may already be available online.

Student projects must have been a majority student production. Submitters must have been a student at the time of production. All levels of education are eligible.

All film selections will be notified, and will be required to provide a HD .MOV or .MP4 of the film.

Selected films wishing not to use their 'Official Premiere', can request to screen as a 'Preview', but will not be eligible for the Audience Award.

Selected films won't be uploaded online, unless the submitter gives prior permission, or it is already intentionally public.

Submitter grants us authorisation to include images, extracts and promotional material for our own promotional purposes, but the project will always be credited.

Submitter agrees they have read and understood all the terms and conditions, rules and guidelines before submitting.

    Great festival and a very friendly community! Thank you for selecting our film and honouring it with an award! We really appreciate this chance to be screened and get in touch with filmmakers from all over the world. The atmosphere was great and friendly, and the festival gathered a nice and lively public that was truly interested in films.

    I would not want to write any bad reviews, but unfortunately I should. After being selected I contacted them multiple times on all social networks and even on the private WhatsApp of the organiser. They never answered except once by saying "We will let you know". But they never let me know. So money wasted, avoid it!

    While I'm grateful for the selection (and I mean it) I wonder if the festival/screening does actually take place. There are no updates neither on their website (where the last selection update is from February 2025) or on their socials. A festival always creates a buzz as the says draw closer to their screening dates. Sorry, team, 3 stars on this one until the updates come in.
