Screen Culture International Film Festival is an international short film festival based in London dedicated to emerging filmmakers and students working across narrative, animation, documentary, and experimental forms.
We focus on films that demonstrate clear authorial intent, visual awareness, and a thoughtful relationship with contemporary screen culture. We are less interested in production scale or genre conventions, and more interested in why a film takes the form it does.
Screen Culture Film Festival is a curated festival. Our selection prioritises originality, experimentation, and strong points of view over technical polish alone.
🎯 What we are looking for
We value:
- Strong directorial vision
- Conscious use of cinematic language
- Personal, critical, or experimental approaches
- Films that engage with the present state of screen culture
We do not prioritise:
- Budget size or production value alone
- Genre imitation without reinterpretation
- Submissions that do not align with the festival’s curatorial focus
🤖 Policy on AI-Generated content
Screen Culture International Film Festival values human authorship and intentional creative processes.
For this reason, we do not accept fully AI-generated films, including works in which the moving images and narrative are generated entirely through text-to-video or similar automated systems.
The use of AI as a supporting or assistive tool (e.g. in research, pre-visualisation, or limited elements of the workflow) is acceptable, provided that the film remains the result of a human-driven creative vision.
Award Winners will receive official certificates from Screen Culture International Film Festival, along with official laurels for use in the promotion of their film.
All films selected for the Official Selection will also receive our official laurels.
Beyond recognition, Screen Culture aims to support filmmakers through visibility, dialogue, and professional opportunities, particularly for students and emerging voices.
