An IMDb qualifying Festival

WHAT MAKES US UNIQUE?

1. DISTRIBUTOR REVIEW by Worldwide Motion Pictures Corporation (WWMPC.COM) for features, Adler & Associates for features and shorts, Cardinal XD, CCS Releasing, and Polaris Pictures (for screenplays) for our chosen "Best of Festival" winners based on enough qualified submissions.
We accept produced and unproduced scripts.

Get your Rhodium-winning script submitted for consideration to Polaris Pictures, a film finance company.
Polaris does not accept unsolicited submissions.

We don't have any control or influence over Polaris Pictures or any of our associate distributors, who decide whether to offer you a production deal or even respond to your email. We merely open the door for the top winners.

2. The opportunity to be included in an international film distributor's buyer's packet.

3. A hybrid festival that runs as both a live screening festival and a virtual screening on WRPN.tv: We invest in getting distributor recognition for quality films to give them a life beyond a one-time festival showing.

SFHAFF will screen the Best of Festival award winners only. More than one Best of Festival award could be given, both to foreign and domestic entries, based on the number of qualified submissions.
We collect audience feedback from live screenings.

Our screening event collects feedback from the audience for our distributors. We don't conduct after-screening networking parties or seminars.
Video interviews of the viewing audience may be conducted and shown on WRPN.tv

If a Best of Festival winner decides not to screen live, fails to submit the required materials, or does not respond to our requests, we reserve the right to cancel the live screening. However, the award winner will still retain their award.

Winning an award in a subcategory does NOT qualify for screening and sending to our distributors. SUBCATEGORIES DO NOT QUALIFY FOR BEST OF FESTIVAL OR BEST OF SHOW AWARDS.

4. Any film rejected receives a personal letter explaining why.

Film submissions go through two stages in each of our 11 Film Festivals (or judging committees)

Stage one entails the Acceptance Judges reviewing your submission and determining whether it has the production values to be Officially Selected to compete (be judged for an award.) Being an Official Selection does not guarantee that your film will be screened.

When you receive an official selection notification, it means your film, screenplay, or novel has passed the stringent acceptance process set by the selection judges. Now, it's ready to go in front of the awarding judges.

Rejected submissions can be corrected and resubmitted for free, even in the following season.
While most festivals don't explain rejections, we strive to help filmmakers improve their festival acceptance rates and, therefore, their marketability.

Stage two: Officially selected submissions are sent to the AWARDING judges. They will choose the award (s) for the films. Not all films are recognized.

5. Regardless of deadline status, all STUDENT FILM ENTRIES are subject to a flat fee of $35. (Proof required of student status at the time of filming: no refunds if your ID is not legitimate.)

Finally, our founders are committee members of the Universal Film & Festival Organization (UFFO.ORG). The UFFO is a non-profit organization in the United Kingdom dedicated to "promoting best business practices for film festivals." It ensures that your film will be judged fairly and thoroughly.

## Rules and Terms

### Submission Requirements

**Language:** Non-English films must include English subtitles or dubbing.

**Authorization:** The individual or corporation submitting warrants they are authorized to commit the film for screening and accept all festival requirements and regulations.

**Entry Acceptance:** The festival reserves the right to refuse entries without providing waivers.

### Promotional Rights

By submitting, you grant the Sci-Fi Horror & Action International Film Festival rights to use excerpts from accepted competition films for promotional purposes. Clips from winning entries may be streamed on the festival website and WRPN.TV.

### Category Submission Guidelines

**Official Selection Listing:** Your film appears on the Official Selection list only when submitted to a main (full-price) category. Films entered solely into reduced-rate production value subcategories will not be publicly listed.

**Subcategory Judging:** Entry into subcategories does not guarantee selection or award. Films submitted exclusively to subcategories (without a major category entry) risk rejection if judges find the specific subcategory submission lacking merit, regardless of overall film quality. Judges may also award subcategory honors you didn't enter if they identify exceptional technical achievement.

**Subcategory Limitation:** Winning an award in a subcategory does not qualify a film for live screening or distributor submission.

**Award Allocation:** The number of awards granted at each level varies based on the total number of entries received by the competition deadline.

### Independent Merit-Based Evaluation

To ensure each film is evaluated on its own merits, we established a mechanism to prevent entries from being judged against one another. They are competing against themselves: we judge each item on its own merits and provide a score based on an innate value system.

We want to ensure that when it's your moment to be judged, the judges' attention is focused on you and not on the other films in the queue. This way, they won't be thinking about comparisons when they should be thinking about you.

**Award Distribution:**
- **Best of Festival & Best of Show:** Top-scoring entries per season
- **Awards of Excellence levels:** Exceptional artistic and technical achievement
- **Awards of Merit & Kudos:** Notable achievements
- **No Award:** Some entries may not reach the award threshold

### Live Screening Protocol

**Best of Festival winners only** are screened theatrically. These events capture authentic audience reactions that distributors use to inform their decisions. The Sci-Fi Horror & Action International Film Festival does not conduct after-screening networking parties or seminars. Audience video interviews may be conducted and featured on WRPN.tv.

**Technical Requirements:** Winners must provide screening-quality files (DCP preferred) and submit all required materials by the deadline.

**Screening Cancellation Rights:**
- Attendance numbers vary independently of promotional activities by the cinema venue or our festival. If a film does not draw viewers, we reserve the right to cancel the screening.
- If a Best of Festival winner decides not to screen live, fails to submit required materials, or doesn't respond to requests, we reserve the right to cancel the live screening. However, the award winner will still retain their award.

The festival reserves the right to modify program dates and times.

### Refund Policy

- **Before Official Selection:** Full refund upon withdrawal
- **After Official Selection:** No refunds issued

### Professional Judging

All judges (selection and awarding phases) are compensated professionals. We do not use unpaid volunteers.

### Communication & Notifications

**Subscribe to the WRPN.tv mailing list** to ensure receipt of award notifications and exclusive discounts. We are not responsible for missed opportunities due to unread or undelivered emails.

### Indemnification

Submitters must indemnify and hold harmless the Sci-Fi Horror & Action International Film Festival, WRPN.TV, and ROMAN PICTURES from all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including attorney's fees and court costs) arising from copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, or loss/damage to submitted materials.

  • We had a fantastic experience with the Sci-Fi Horror & Action Festival! The wily energy and style of the selections alongside us showed that we were in the right place for our film! Communications/ notifications were timely and smooth, and we're honored to receive an award.

We'll definitely participate in this festival again!

A good genre specific festival that does a good job actually reading the scripts. Can't speak to the in person categories as I was not actually able to attend in person.
