Mission & Objective:

The mission of Sci-Fest Film is to provide a platform for our fellow Sci-Fi filmmakers and screenwriters to showcase their work while also creating a year round learning environment full of workshops, discussion panels, and mentorships. We hope to increase interest in Sci-Fi film/tv, teach others about film, and bring together a stronger community and love for this field and genre.

About the Festival:

Sci-Fest is a 1-day event mixed of submitted and judged films. There will be workshops, panels, and other special events. Also, a filmmakers/screenwriters meet&greet. A convivial networking opportunity with fellow filmmakers and the industry.

Sci-Fest accepts finished films in the feature (running time over 60 minutes), Pilot (25-35 minutes/ 36-55 minutes) and short (running time 3-15 minutes) for entrance into its film competition. Films should be Sci-Fi, fantasy, thriller, or supernatural in nature. Sci-Fest accepts narrative, documentary, and animation in short, pilot, or feature lengths.

Awards & Prizes

Awards & Prizes - This is a juried film festival concluding with both juror and audience award presentations. Categories will include: Best Feature, Best Short, Best Pilot, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects, Best Costume, Best Makeup, Audience Choice, Best Leading Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Film Score, Best Director, and Best Editing.

Rules & Terms

Features and Shorts SUBMISSION Guidelines:

- Any film that has a science fiction or science underpinning. Our definition is broad.
- Film has been made in the last 18 months (older films can request consideration)
- Works in progress are accepted
- Premieres are welcome
- Non-English films must be subtitled
- Each film is a separate entry
- Must not have public online presence
- Selected films will be delivered on a timely basis
- Selected films will assist in social media and traditional marketing

PROGRAMMING Guidelines

- When films are scheduled is Sci-Fest's sole decision
- Changes to a schedule may occur at any time. Life can be unpredictable.
- Missing deadlines may result in eligibility negation
- Films may screen more than once during the course of the Fest
- Decisions of Sci-Fest and Judges is final
