~ The world's only international surf and environmental film festival ~

What is “STWFF”? Save The Waves Film Festival is the world’s only international surf and environmental film fest. It’s a global film tour and fundraiser hosted by nonprofit Save The Waves Coalition.

STWFF aims to educate and inspire audiences to protect surf ecosystems across the globe, while benefiting valuable coastal conservation and environmental efforts.

Hosted by Save The Waves and dedicated hosts across the globe, the 2025 tour saw 50+ screenings in 14 countries with over 5,000 attendees.

As STWFF is primarily a “shorts” film festival, runtime for films is encouraged to be in the 5-12 minute range. “Featured films” are also accepted from 45-60 minutes. There is a $5 entry fee for filmmakers per submission; proceeds from fees support Save The Waves’ conservation initiatives and environmental projects.

Please only submit your film if it pertains to our festival themes: surf, ocean, outdoor/adventure, environmentalism and conservation. If your film is broadly outside of our categories without consideration for our festival theme, we will have to disqualify your submission.

After Selection:

All filmmakers need to download and sign our filmmaker release form and email your signed copy to films@savethewaves.org. This 2026 Documentation will be sent to filmmakers upon notification of your official selection in April.

  • I had a great time during the very well organized Venice event making new connections and enjoying top international industry films. Great production and programming overall and an honor to participate.

  • One of the most fun and rewarding festivals I've been a part of! Amazing community of ocean-minded people come together to celebrate what they love and care for most. Just good vibes all the way.
