CATEGORÍAS
El Festival Santiago Wild 2026 cuenta con 12 categorías postulables, además del máximo reconocimiento del premio del jurado al cual no se postula. Es posible postular a todas las categorías en las que se desee participar. Estas son:
1.- Puma de los Andes: Gran premio del jurado a la mejor película de la competencia del Festival (no se postula)
2.- Planeta en Crisis / Medio ambiente (Largometrajes y cortometrajes)
3.- Relatos de Naturaleza / Historia natural (Largometrajes y cortometrajes)
4.- Guardianes en Acción / Conservación (Largometrajes y cortometrajes)
5.- Nuevas Voces de Latinoamérica / Talento emergente (Categoría única)
6.- Mirada Salvaje / Nuevas narrativas (Categoría única)
7.- Exploradores Digitales / Creadores de contenido (Categoría única)

A continuación revisa la descripción de cada categoría:
1.- Puma de los Andes / Premio del jurado
El Puma de los Andes es el máximo galardón otorgado por el jurado a la mejor película del festival. Este reconocimiento celebra obras que representan las causas de la naturaleza con integridad y destacan por su mensaje poderoso, su excelencia técnica y artística.
2.- Planeta en Crisis / Medioambiente
2 categorías: Largometrajes y cortometrajes.
Explora temas y problemáticas ambientales además de promover esfuerzos de activismo. Estas películas cuentan historias investigativas y hacen llamados a la acción.
El impacto del humano sobre el medioambiente debe ser el foco principal de la producción. Considera reportajes periodísticos y activismo que incluya campañas de impacto.
3.- Relatos de Naturaleza / Historia natural
2 categorías: Largometrajes y cortometrajes.
Narrativas que muestran la belleza, el comportamiento y la interconexión de la vida silvestre. Una ventana al mundo natural que destaca especies particulares, ecosistemas o momentos de descubrimiento. La historia natural, los ecosistemas y/o el comportamiento animal debe ser el foco principal de la producción.
4.- Guardianes en Acción / Conservación
2 categorías: Largometrajes y cortometrajes.
Historias sobre proyectos de conservación, investigaciones y/o colaboraciones entre comunidades y organizaciones. Relatos alentadores que infunden esperanza e inspiran acción. Las iniciativas de conservación, ya sea investigación, proyectos de ONGs y soluciones frente a los desafíos medioambientales son el foco principal de esta categoría.
5.- Nuevas Voces de Latinoamérica / Talento emergente
Categoría única.
Categoría que premia nuevas voces y relatos de cineastas emergentes de Latinoamérica. Destaca la creatividad y el potencial de los cineastas de la región. Las temáticas pueden abordar naturaleza, medio ambiente, ciencia, deporte y conservación. Pueden participar cortometrajes y largometrajes.
Requerimiento: ser primera o segunda obra del director, productor o representante autorizado de la obra. Se premia al postulante. Considera proyectos académicos de título. Puede haber sido financiado por fondos.
6.- Mirada Salvaje / Nuevas narrativas
Categoría única.
Estas películas traspasan los límites de la narración tradicional sobre la naturaleza. Pueden ser de ficción, presentar técnicas cinematográficas innovadoras, digitales, animadas, artísticas y perspectivas nuevas o narrativas innovadoras que inspiran y desafían al público a ver el mundo natural con una propuesta distintiva. Pueden participar cortometrajes y largometrajes.
7.- Exploradores Digitales / Creadores de contenido
Categoría única.
Videos breves y micrometrajes de menos de 3 minutos, realizados por creadores de contenido. Son piezas audiovisuales creadas y optimizadas para distintos formatos y plataformas como Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc. Pueden incorporar tendencias, humor o enfoques narrativos artísticos y/o virales, según los objetivos del proyecto.
Requerimientos: La postulación debe ser diseñada específicamente para un formato acorde a plataformas como Instagram, TikTok o YouTube (4:5 o 9:16). Debe contar una historia y/o mostrar un aspecto de la naturaleza que dé cuenta de una narrativa. Puede incluir recursos digitales que no superen el 15% la producción. Un registro o captura no es considerado elegible. No se considerarán fragmentos o extractos de otras producciones mayores.
8.- Crónicas del Territorio / Investigación
Categoría única.
Esta categoría premia el periodismo de investigación sobre naturaleza y/o medio ambiente en el cine documental. Se reconocerá la calidad, relevancia, rigor y originalidad. Pueden participar cortometrajes y largometrajes.
9.- La Belleza de la Naturaleza / Cinematografía
Categoría única.
Esta categoría tiene como objetivo reconocer la excelencia en el trabajo cinematográfico. Se valora la calidad estética, el uso expresivo de la cámara, la composición visual, la iluminación y la coherencia visual con la narrativa abordada en el documental. Pueden participar cortometrajes y largometrajes.
10.- Voces de la Tierra / Sonido
Categoría única.
Esta categoría valora el uso creativo del sonido en una obra documental, busca destacar una propuesta musical original y/o la excelencia artística y técnica en el diseño sonoro. Pueden participar cortometrajes y largometrajes.
TIEMPOS
- Cortometraje: 3 a 20 minutos
- Largometraje: 20 a 150 minutos
- Categoría "Exploradores digitales": 1 a 3 minutos
- Categoría "Mirada salvaje": 3 a 150 minutos
TÉRMINOS Y CONDICIONES
- Los participantes tienen para postular desde el 7 de enero hasta las 23:59 del domingo 8 de marzo de 2026. Los finalistas serán anunciados durante el mes de abril de 2026.
- Las películas pueden tener patrocinios de marcas, sin embargo, su exhibición debe reducirse al mínimo posible. No serán consideradas las producciones que se centren en una marca en particular con fines de promoción de esta.
- Tarifa: Las postulaciones a la competencia del festival implican un costo asociado que puede variar entre 15 y 50 usd. El pago debe ser efectuado a través de tarjeta de crédito.
- Para aquellas películas que posean idioma extranjero o lenguas originarias se solicitan subtítulos o doblaje al español.
- La producción debe haber sido completada desde el 1 de enero de 2023 en adelante.
- Se puede postular a más de una categoría.
- Las películas deben ser originales y de autoría del postulante.
- Los seleccionados deberán entregar una copia del material en un estándar mínimo de Full HD en codec h264 y máximo 4K codec ProRes para ser exhibida en el evento.
- A los finalistas se les pedirá material adicional de las producciones, tales como fotografías promocionales, póster, headshot, trailer y material audiovisual para redes sociales y el catálogo de la web.
- Al postular, se aceptan los términos definidos por Santiago Wild para la proyección del contenido durante los días que dura el festival.
- La participación en el concurso implica la aceptación de todas y cada una de las Bases del mismo. La organización se reserva la facultad de resolver cualquier contingencia no prevista en las Bases.
ESTRENOS
Las películas que harán su estreno en el Festival serán consideradas para una función especial a discreción del equipo de producción, a modo de potenciar su difusión y darle mayor alcance tanto a la película como al evento.
DERECHOS
Al participar en la competencia, el concursante declara y garantiza que: el participante otorga a Santiago Wild los derechos para exhibir la película durante el Festival, así como el derecho de promocionar la película en o a través de todos los formatos conocidos actualmente en Internet y medios de comunicación.
Para poder participar, el participante debe poseer todos los derechos, títulos e intereses, incluyendo los derechos de autor y todos los derechos de propiedad intelectual, en y para la película que será presentada en el Festival.
El contenido y realización de cada documental es de exclusiva responsabilidad de sus creadores. El Festival Santiago Wild y sus colaboradores no se hacen cargo de las opiniones, acciones o aspectos legales de las producciones postuladas y seleccionadas para el certamen.

The Santiago Wild 2026 Festival has 13 categories open for submission, plus the highest recognition of the jury prize, which is not open for submission. It is possible to submit to all categories in which you wish to participate. These are:

Below is a description of each category:
1.- Puma of the Andes / Jury award
The Puma of the Andes is the highest award given by the jury to the best film of the festival. This recognition celebrates works that represent the causes of nature with integrity, standing out for their powerful message and technical and artistic excellence.
2.- Planet in Crisis / Environment
2 categories: Feature films and short films.
Explores environmental issues and problems while promoting activism efforts. These films tell investigative stories and call for action.
The impact of humans on the environment must be the main focus of the production. It considers journalistic reports and activism that includes impact campaigns.
3.- Stories of Nature / Natural history
2 categories: Feature films and short films.
Narratives that showcase the beauty, behavior, and interconnectedness of wildlife. A window into the natural world that highlights particular species, ecosystems, or moments of discovery.
Natural history, ecosystems, and/or animal behavior must be the main focus of the production.
4.- Guardians in Action / Conservation
2 categories: Feature films and short films.
Stories about conservation projects, research, and collaborations between communities and organizations. Encouraging stories that instill hope and inspire action.
Conservation initiatives, whether research, NGO projects or solutions to environmental challenges, are the main focus of this category.
5.- New Latin American Voices / Emerging talent
Single category.
This category rewards new voices and stories from emerging filmmakers in Latin America. It highlights the creativity and potential of filmmakers in the region. Themes may address nature, the environment, science, sports, and conservation. Short films and feature films are eligible to participate.
Requirement: must be the first or second work of the director, producer, or authorized representative of the work. The applicant is awarded. Academic degree projects are considered. May have been funded by grants.
6.- Wild Gaze / New narratives
Single category.
These films transcend the boundaries of traditional nature storytelling. They may be fictional, feature innovative cinematographic techniques, be digital, animated, artistic, or present new perspectives or innovative narratives that inspire and challenge audiences to see the natural world in a distinctive way. Short films and feature films are eligible to participate.
7.- Digital Explorers / Content creators
Single category.
Short videos and microfilms lasting less than 3 minutes, made by content creators. These are audiovisual pieces created and optimized for different formats and platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc., which may incorporate trends, humor or artistic and/or viral narrative approaches, depending on the objectives of the project.
Requirements: the submission must be designed specifically for a format compatible with platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube (4:5 or 9:16). It must tell a story and/or show an aspect of nature that tells a narrative. It may include digital resources that do not exceed 15% of the production. A recording or capture is not considered eligible. Fragments or excerpts from other major productions will not be considered.
8.- Chronicles of the Territory / Investigation
Single category.
This category rewards investigative journalism on nature and/or the environment in documentary films. Quality, relevance, rigor, and originality will be recognized.
Short films and feature films are eligible to participate.
9.- The Beauty of Nature / Cinematography
Single category.
This category aims to recognize excellence in cinematographic work. Aesthetic quality, expressive use of the camera, visual composition, lighting, and visual coherence with the narrative addressed in the documentary will be evaluated. Short films and feature films are eligible to participate.
10.- Voices of the Earth / Sound
Single category.
This category values the creative use of sound in a documentary work, seeks to highlight an original musical proposal and/or artistic and technical excellence in sound design. Short films and feature films are eligible to participate.

RULES AND TERMS
- Participants can apply from January 7 until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2026, and the finalists will be announced during the month of April 2026.
- Films may be sponsored by brands, however, their display must be kept to a minimum. Productions that focus on a particular brand for promotional purposes will not be considered.
- Fee: Applications to the festival competition involve a cost that can vary between $15 and $50 USD. Payment must be made by credit card.
- For films in foreign or indigenous languages, subtitles or dubbing in Spanish is required.
- Production must have been completed on or after January 1, 2023.
- Applicants may apply to more than one category.
- Films must be original and authored by the applicant.
- Those selected must submit a copy of the material in a minimum standard of Full HD in h264 codec and maximum 4K ProRes codec to be screened at the event.
- Finalists will be asked to provide additional material from the productions, such as promotional photographs, posters, headshots, trailers, and audiovisual material for social media and the web catalog.
- By applying, applicants accept the terms defined by Santiago Wild for the screening of content during the festival.
- Participation in the contest implies acceptance of each and every one of the contest rules. The organization reserves the right to resolve any contingency not provided for in the rules.
PREMIERES
Films premiering at the Festival will be considered for a special screening at the discretion of the production team, in order to promote their distribution and give greater visibility to both the film and the event.
RIGHTS
By participating in the competition, the contestant declares and guarantees that: the participant grants Santiago Wild the rights to screen the film during the Festival, as well as the right to promote the film in or through all formats currently known on the Internet and in the media.
In order to participate, the participant must own all rights, titles, and interests, including copyright and all intellectual property rights, in and to the film to be presented at the Festival.
The content and production of each documentary is the sole responsibility of its creators. The Santiago Wild Festival and its collaborators are not responsible for the opinions, actions, or legal aspects of the productions submitted and selected for the competition.
