El Festival Santiago Wild 2024 contará con dos categorías:
1.- “Nuevas voces latinoamericanas”
Es una competencia que invita a todos los talentos latinoamericanos a postular con sus producciones audiovisuales de vida salvaje y medio ambiente grabadas en cualquier parte del mundo.
Esta competencia cuenta con tres subcategorías: largometrajes, cortometrajes y micro documental.
Se premiará a los ganadores de las subcategorías de cortometrajes, largometrajes y micro documental.
Las películas deben haber sido realizadas por personas latinoamericanas o extranjeros residentes en cualquier país de Latinoamérica.
2.- “Latinoamérica desde los ojos del mundo”
Es una mención que invita a talentos de todo el mundo a postular con sus producciones audiovisuales de vida salvaje y medio ambiente, grabadas en Latinoamérica.
Esta mención cuenta con tres subcategorías: largometrajes, cortometrajes y micro documental.
Se reconocerá a las producciones destacadas en las subcategorías de cortometrajes, largometrajes y micro documental.
Para participar de cualquiera de las dos categorías:
Los participantes tendrán hasta el 17 marzo 2024 para postular y los finalistas serán anunciados durante el mes de abril 2024.
Las producciones deben limitarse únicamente a las temáticas de vida salvaje, medio ambiente y comunidades.
¿Qué se entiende por “vida salvaje”?
Todas aquellas materias que tengan relación con la flora, fauna, funga y otros organismos que habitan en la Tierra.
Incluye a los filmes que abarquen historias sobre especies silvestres, ecosistemas naturales y, en definitiva, sobre factores bióticos (vivos) y abióticos (no vivos) que forman parte del planeta.
¿Qué se entiende por “medio ambiente y comunidades”?
Temáticas que giren en torno a la contingencia medioambiental y a las acciones humanas que impactan en distintos grados a la biodiversidad o al planeta, ya sea de forma positiva o negativa. Fenómenos como la crisis climática, el cambio global, conflictos socioambientales nacionales y/o locales, y amenazas a especies o ecosistemas concretos, son algunos de los ejemplos.
Iniciativas que buscan conservar, recuperar y/o restaurar algún componente de la naturaleza (como una especie amenazada o un ecosistema), o bien generar conciencia ambiental.
Producciones que aborden la relación entre el humano y su entorno, enfocados en temas de salud, psicológicos, reflexiones y aprendizajes, entre otros asuntos. Por ejemplo, curaciones a través de la naturaleza, baños de bosques y sanación, etc.
Trabajos que abarquen la relación de comunidades y pueblos originarios con la naturaleza.
- ¿Qué se entiende por micro documental? Es una producción audiovisual de 2 a 7 minutos de duración.
- ¿Qué se entiende por cortometraje? Es una producción audiovisual de 7 a 25 minutos de duración.
- ¿Qué se entiende por largometraje? Es una producción audiovisual desde 26 a 90 minutos.
Las películas pueden tener patrocinios de marcas. Sin embargo, el uso de marcas debe mantenerse lo mínimo posible en la producción. No serán consideradas las producciones que se centren en una marca en particular con fines de promoción de esta.
- Para aquellas películas que posean idioma extranjero o lenguas originarias de América Latina, se solicitan subtítulos o doblaje en español.
- La producción tiene que ser realizada después del 1 de enero de 2019.
- No hay límite de cuántas producciones pueden enviar.
- La postulación es pagada y puede variar entre USD $20 y $30 dependiendo de la categoría.
- El plazo para enviar las películas será desde el 13 diciembre de 2023 hasta las 23:59 del 17 de marzo de 2024.
- Las películas deben ser originales y de autoría del participante.
- Los finalistas deberán entregar una copia de su producción en la más alta calidad disponible, para que sea exhibida en el evento.
- A los finalistas se les pedirá material adicional de las producciones, tales como fotografías promocionales, clip promocional (trailer) y material audiovisual para redes sociales.
- Al postular la/s película/s, se aceptan los términos definidos por Santiago Wild para la transmisión del contenido via online y presencial durante los días que dura el festival.
- Se aceptan los términos definidos por Santiago Wild para la transmisión del contenido durante el Tour presencial SW24 a lo largo de Chile.
- La participación en el concurso implica la aceptación de todas y cada una de las Bases del mismo. La organización queda facultada para resolver cualquier contingencia no prevista en las Bases.
Derechos
Al participar en el concurso, el concursante declara y garantiza que: el participante otorga a Santiago Wild los derechos para exhibir la película durante el Festival y en el Tour presencial, así como el derecho de promocionar la película en o a través de todos los formatos conocidos actualmente en Internet y medios de comunicación.
Para poder participar, el participante debe poseer todos los derechos, títulos e intereses, incluyendo los derechos de autor y todos los derechos de propiedad intelectual, en y para la película que sería presentada en el Festival.
El contenido y realización de cada documental es de exclusiva responsabilidad de sus creadores. El Festival Santiago Wild y sus colaboradores no se hacen cargo de las opiniones, acciones o aspectos legales de las producciones postuladas y seleccionadas para la competencia del certamen.
La realización y participación del Media Lab es totalmente independiente a la competencia. Por lo tanto, esta no influirá en la selección de los miembros del Media Lab ni en la premiación de sus películas.

This year the Santiago Wild Festival will have for the first time two categories:
1.- "New Latin American Voices"
This is a competition that invites all Latin American talents to apply with their wildlife and environmental productions filmed around the world.
This competition has tree subcategories: micro documentary, short and long forms.
Prizes will be awarded to the winners of the micro documentary, short and long form subcategories.
The films must have been made by Latin Americans.
2.- "Latin America through the eyes of the world".
This is a mention that invites talents from all over the world to apply with their wildlife and environmental productions, filmed in Latin America.
This mention has three subcategories: micro documentary, short and long forms.
Recognition will be given to outstanding productions in the subcategories of micro documentary, short and long forms.
To participate in either of the two categories:
Participants will have until March 17, 2024, to apply and finalists will be announced during the month of April 2024.
Productions must be limited to wildlife, environmental and community themes only.
What is meant by "wildlife"?
All subjects that relate to the flora, fauna, fungi and other organisms that inhabit the Earth.
It includes films that tell stories about wildlife species, natural ecosystems and, ultimately, biotic (living) and abiotic (non-living) factors that are part of our planet.
What is meant by "environment and communities"?
Themes that revolve around the environmental contingency and human actions that impact biodiversity or the planet to varying degrees, either positively or negatively. Phenomena such as the climate crisis, global change, national and/or local socio-environmental conflicts, and threats to specific species or ecosystems are some examples.
Initiatives that seek to conserve, recover and/or restore some component of nature (such as an endangered species or ecosystem), or generate environmental awareness.
Productions that address the relationship between humans and their environment, focusing on health, psychological, reflections and learning, among other issues. For example, healing through nature, forest baths and healing, etc.
- Works that cover the relationship of communities and native peoples with nature.
- What is a micro documentary? It is an audiovisual production from 2 to 7 minutes.
- What is a short film? It is an audiovisual production from 8 to 25 minutes.
What is a long film? It is an audiovisual production from 26 to 90 minutes.
Films may have brand sponsorships. However, the use of brand names should be kept to a minimum in the production. Productions that focus on a particular brand for promotional purposes will not be considered.
For foreign language or native latin american tongue films, Spanish subtitles or dubbing are requested.
- The production must be made after January 1, 2019.
- There is no limit to how many productions can be submitted.
- The application is paid and can vary between USD $ 20 and $ 30 depending on the category.
- The deadline for submitting films will be from December 13, 2023, until 23:59 on March 17, 2024.
- Films must be original and authored by the entrant.
- Finalists must submit a copy of their production in the highest quality available, to be screened at the event.
- Finalists will be asked for additional material of the productions, such as promotional photographs, promotional clip (trailer) and audiovisual material for social networks.
- By applying for the film/s, you accept the terms defined by Santiago Wild for the transmission of the content online and in person during the days that the festival lasts.
- By applying for the film/s, you accept the terms defined by Santiago Wild for the transmission of the movies during the SW24 in-person Tour throughout Chile.
- Participation in the contest implies the acceptance of each and every one of the Rules of the contest. The organization is empowered to resolve any contingency not foreseen in the Rules.
Rights
By participating in the contest, the contestant declares and guarantees that: the participant grants Santiago Wild the rights to exhibit the film at the festival the rights to exhibit the film during the Festival and in the Presential Tour, as well as the right to promote the film in or through all formats currently known on the Internet and media.
In order to participate, the entrant must own all rights, title and interest, including copyright and all intellectual property rights, in and to the film that would be presented at the Festival.
The content and production of each documentary film is the sole responsibility of its creators. The Santiago Wild Festival and its collaborators are not responsible for the opinions, actions or legal aspects of the productions submitted and selected for the competition.
The realization and participation of the Media Lab is totally independent from the competition. Therefore, the competition will not influence the selection of Media Lab members or the awarding of their films.
