Santiago Mountain Films Festival

The Santiago Mountain Film Festival invites all filmmakers to participate in the Santiago Mountain Films competition, whose central theme will be adventure sports, exploration and expedition, harmonious interaction with the environment, and mountain culture.

The finalist films will be selected by the jury, and will be screened at the 26th SANTIAGO MOUNTAIN FILMS FESTIVAL. Additional selected films will be screened online during the SMFF week.

We receive submissions through FilmFreeway. If you don’t have an account yet, you will need to create one.

Films uploaded to YouTube, Vimeo, or another online site may not have the opportunity to have their film selected to be shown live at the SMFF.

DETAILS
Films are documentary (narrative, historical, animated, or experimental). Filmmakers from any country are welcome to apply.

Films produced before January 2024 will not be eligible for the competition.

Mountain Films Competition reserves the right to make the final decision on the category of any scheduled film. Finalists will be notified in by the end of September.

The entrant acknowledges and agrees that all matters will be decided by the organizers of the Santiago Mountain Film Festival, or the Festival jury, at their sole discretion.

Films may have credits and logos, as all films ultimately do. The use of trademarks should be kept to a minimum, without focusing on any particular brand for promotional purposes.

The names of the jury members will be announced in good time before the screening at the SANTIAGO MOUNTAIN FILM FESTIVAL.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
Please submit your film in H.264, mp4, or .mov formats. Finalists will be asked to provide a digital master copy of the production, in the highest quality. We will accept .mov or H.264, 1920 x 1080i/p.

Please use the same frame rate at which your film was edited.

Films with sound in any language other than Spanish, must have Spanish subtitles or be dubbed into Spanish. Sans-serif font is recommended for maximum legibility against light and dark backgrounds.

If you wish to enter your film in one of the IAMF competitions, please also include a clean video, without subtitles, and an English transcript.

Please include a description of the film: Film name, date of production, country, director and producer, film website, if available, and a brief description of the film (no more than 4 lines in length).

MATERIAL PROMOTION
Finalists will be contacted and asked to submit two (2) images from the film to be reproduced, published, and/or exhibited for promotional purposes as part of the Mountain Film Competition.

One photo in vertical format and one in horizontal format (1920 x 1080 pixels or higher).

PREFERRED FORMAT: Digital; 300 dpi JPEG or TIFF format; recommended size: 10 x 15.5 cm. All images must be accompanied by the film title, location, and photographer’s name.

Participant agrees to indemnify SMFF, its respective successors, assigns, licensees and their respective officers, and hold them harmless from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, costs, expenses (including reasonable legal fees) and penalties resulting from, based on, or incurred by reason of a breach by Participant of any statement, representation or warranty made by Participant in this entry form.

FILM RIGHTS
By participating in the competition, the Contestant represents and warrants that: The Participant grants SANTIAGO MOUNTAIN FILMS the rights to use the film as indicated in this entry form.

The Participant owns all right, title, and interest, including copyright and all intellectual property rights, in and to the film being presented at the Festival and has the right to distribute, exhibit, and promote the film in or through all formats now known or hereafter invented, including, but not limited to, the Internet throughout the universe.

To the extent that the Film Producer may now or in the future be entitled to all so-called moral, authorial, or similar rights in the film pursuant to the Copyright Law (Chile) or otherwise, the producer irrevocably waives and assigns all such rights to SMFF Chile and its assignees and licensees to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Santiago Mountain Films will ask filmmakers if they will grant the rights to screen their film after the Festival, on the Mountain Films Festival tour. The filmmaker has the option to agree or not, and still be present at the Santiago Film Festival. No screening fees will be paid.

All submitted material will be retained by the Festival for adjudication and archival purposes and will not be returned.

The Participant grants the Festival, its successors and licensees, and assigns the right to copy and version the film in its entirety to facilitate technical operations at the Festival, in and through any multimedia format not known or to be developed in the future.

El juez de selección de Santiago Mountain Film Festival, invita a todos los cineastas ​​a participar de la sección de concurso de Santiago Mountain Films, cuyo tema central son los deportes de aventura, exploración y expedición, interacción armoniosa con el medio ambiente y cultura de montaña.

Las películas finalistas, seleccionadas por el jurado, se proyectarán en el 26.º SANTIAGO MOUNTAIN FILMS FESTIVAL. Algunas de las películas adicionales seleccionadas se proyectarán en línea durante la semana del SMFF.

DETALLES
Las películas pueden ser documental (narrativo, histórica, animada o experimental). Pueden postular cineastas de cualquier país.

Las películas producidascon anterioridad al enero 2024 no serán elegibles para la competición.

Mountain Films Competición se reserva el derecho de tomar la decisión final sobre la categoría de cualquier película programada. Los finalistas serán notificados a fin de septiembre.

El participante reconoce y acepta que todo asunto se decidirá por los organizadores del Santiago Mountain Film Festival ,o el jurado del Festival, a su entera discreción.

Las películas pueden tener créditos y logotipos, como toda película al final. El uso de marcas debe mantenersea lo mínimo en la película, sin centrarse enuna marca en particular con fines de promoción.

Los nombres de los miembros del jurado se darán a conocer en un tiempo oportuno antes de la realización de la muestra en el SANTIAGO MOUNTAIN FILM FESTIVAL.

REQUISITOS TÉCNICOS
Por favor envíe su película en formatos H.264, mp4, o .mov. A los finalistas se les pedirá proporcionar una copia maestra digital de la producción,en la más alta calidad. Aceptaremos .mov o H.264, 1920 x 1080i/p

Por favor utilice la misma velocidad de fotogramas con que su película fue editada.

Películas que posean sonido en cualquier otro idioma que no sea el español deben tener subtítulos en esta lengua o estar dobladas al español. Se recomienda un tipo de letrasans-serif con máxima legibilidad contra fondos claros y oscuros.

Lo mejor es incluir subtítulos en inglés en tu película para la gira de Mountain Films en Chile. En verano, muchos de los espectadores son viajeros internacionales.

Si desea presentar su película en uno de los concursos IAMF, incluya también un video limpio, sin subtítulos, y una transcripción en inglés.

El participante se compromete a indemnizar a SMFF, sus respectivos sucesores, cesionarios, licenciarais y sus respectivos funcionarios, y mantener los indemnes de y contra cualquier y todo reclamo, responsabilidad, pérdidas, daños, costos, gastos (incluyendo honorarios legales razonables) y sanciones por consecuencia o resultante de, con base en, o incurrido a causa de un incumplimiento por parte del Participante de cualquier declaración, representación o garantía hecha por el Participante en este formulario de inscripción.

DERECHOS DE PELÍCULAS
Al participar en el concurso, el Concursante declara y garantiza que: El Participante otorga a SANTIAGO MOUNTAIN FILMS los derechos para usar la película como se indica en este formulario de inscripción.

El participante posee todos los derechos, títulos e intereses, incluyendo los derechos de autor y todos los derechos de propiedad intelectual, en y para la película siendo presentada en el Festival y tiene el derecho de distribuir, exhibir y promocionar la película en o a través de todos los formatos conocidos actualmente o inventados en el futuro, incluyendo, pero no limitado a, la Internet en todo el universo;

En la medida enque el productor Cinematográfico pueda ahora o enel futuro tener derecho a todos los derechos llamados morales, de autor o similares en la películade con formidad con la Ley deDerecho de Autor (Chile) o de otra manera, el productor irrevocablemente renuncia y cede todos los derechos a favor de MFF Chile y sus cesionarios y licenciatarios en la mayor medida permitida por la ley.

Santiago Mountain Films preguntará a los realizadores si ceden los derechos para proyectar su película después del Festival, en la gira del Mountain Films tour. El cineasta tiene la opción de estar de acuerdo o no, y aún estar en el SANTIAGO MFF. No se pagarán tarifas de exhibición.

Todo material entregado será retenido por el Festival para adjudicación y fines de archivo, y no será devuelto.

El Participante otorga al Festival, sus sucesores y licenciatarios, y asigna el derecho a copiar y versionar la película en su totalidad para facilitar operaciones de carácter técnico en el Festival, en y por medio y todo formato multimedia no conocido o a realizarse a futuro.

Las presentaciones de películas se realizarán únicamente a través de Film Freeway.
