All submissions must adhere to the following guidelines:
Film must be submitted by a current St. Louis Public Library or St. Louis County Library card holder (to ensure only local submissions). Visit any SLPL or SLCL branch to become a member for free.
The card number must be active and match the name of the person submitting the film
Maximum of 1 submission per person
The same film cannot be submitted more than once
Minimum runtime of 2 minutes
Maximum runtime of 20 minutes
Minimum and maximum runtime includes credits (credits must be less than 50% of a film's total runtime)
Films must be appropriate for ages 13 and older and not include any obscene and vulgar content
Film must have English subtitles if recorded in a language other than English
It is the responsibility of the submitter to ensure legal use of all copyrighted content that may be a part of the submitted film
If your film is selected, you grant SLPL permission to use assets from the film in marketing materials to promote the SLPL Film Festival.
A submission does not guarantee entrance to the festival. Films will be screened by staff and selected for display.
Priority will be given to films that have not yet premiered or have premiered within the last 365 days. However older films are welcomed to be submitted and will be considered. Films submitted in prior years are allowed to be resubmitted so long as they have not made final selection and appeared in an SLPLFF event.
There is a cap of 200 submissions and SLPL may close submissions before the deadline if the cap it met.
Each category will have a winner. This year our three categories are Documentary, Experimental, and Narrative. There will also be an audience choice award.
Awards will not be announced ahead of time. Physical prizes must be picked up in person at the Central Library.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to the event organizer, Sam Beehler at sbeehler@slpl.org
