SDOC BKK is a new international platform dedicated to documentary works by students and emerging young filmmakers from around the world. The festival brings together screenings, discussions, pitching sessions, and cross-cultural exchanges to support the next generation of documentary storytellers in Asia and beyond.
Beyond screenings and competitions, SDOC BKK aims to support young content creators who are interested in communicating knowledge, culture, local wisdom, social issues, and contemporary experiences through accessible and innovative forms of storytelling. The festival believes documentary storytelling can play an important role in the development of a knowledge-based society and in creating new ways for audiences to engage with culture and ideas.
The festival includes:
Thai & International Student Documentary Competition
International Student Documentary Pitching Forum
Panels, workshops, and Q&A sessions with filmmakers, scholars, and industry professionals
Co-Production & Industry Dialogue on documentary collaboration in Asia
SDOC BKK also seeks to gradually connect documentary networks across Asia through collaborations with universities, filmmakers, festivals, and documentary organizations in the region, while positioning Bangkok as a growing hub for student documentary culture and emerging documentary talent.
