We’re hosting our 4th SURF FILM event on 31 October 2026! I Love the Seaside’s surf film events bring together ocean enthusiasts, filmmakers, and curious minds for an evening of stories from the surf world and beyond. More than just a screening, we celebrate community, adventure, and the sea, encouraging conversations and fresh perspectives.
Last year, we hosted three small but successful surf film events, and in 2026 we’re ready to grow a little while maintaining the same close-knit atmosphere. We strive to be as accessible and inclusive as possible for everyone in our community: low entry fees, a strong female presence in both the organisation and the films, and iconic venues with a strong connection to the sea or water, such as our last venues De Pier, a Northsea museum and a waterfront restaurant.
Our previous events in the seaside town of Scheveningen and Amsterdam, with up to 200 people, sold out quickly. We now host our event at De Regentes in The Hague, a former swimming pool that accommodates some 300 people.
With our roots in creating surf and travel books, we aim to highlight every aspect of surf and travel, from the cultural and adventurous to the consequences.
With long breaks between the film blocks, we create opportunities for people to gather, eat and drink, enjoy music, chat, and meet local artists, craftspeople, and filmmakers. We support local and international ocean-related organisations, such as Surfrider, that may be present at our event.
Together, we hope to keep growing a welcoming space where surf, film, and ocean-minded people meet, connect, and leave inspired.
While we’re only at the start of what we hope will be a long-running annual festival, we do have laureates for every film selected for screening. We also have honorary Best Film and Audience Awards.
