The SCCC Film Festival cordially invites filmmakers from local, regional, and international spheres to submit their independent films for the Spring Film Festival set for April 18, 2026 at the beautiful Sussex County Community College Campus of Newton, NJ.

SCCC is committed to inspiring the next generation of filmmakers and film enthusiasts. Attendees will enjoy a dynamic lineup of short, documentary, experimental film screenings, and films made by SCCC's very own student body curated by SCCC faculty and students. Each screening segment will be followed by engaging panel discussions and Q&A sessions led by faculty, promoting meaningful dialogue and interdisciplinary connection of the visual arts, humanities and technical aspects of film. The festival showcases the talents of filmmakers from novice to professional and provides an excellent opportunity to network with fellow cinema lovers in the New Jersey/Tri-State Area.

The SCCC Film Festival aims to provide an opportunity for filmmakers to screen their work in a supportive environment, as well as encourage the art of filmmaking and the exploration of innovative ideas and viewpoints in our community.

Films submitted by SCCC students are eligible for the $250 Emerging Filmmaker Grant sponsored by BarnLight Studios, a rapidly-growing film studio and one of the Sussex County Community College's key partners.

Awards and special honors will be selected in categories of submission (Narrative, Documentary and Experimental Short Films) by Film Committee members, which is comprised of faculty, students and community filmmakers.

  • The SCCC Film Festival was quick to respond to the filmmakers. I am very honored that a venue of education selected my work to screen: "A Snowy Day in New York City." I'm very proud of my short film and I hope the SCCC festival staff and viewing public enjoyed it. Thank you so much!
