SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

The festival operates a no waiver policy.

Incomplete films can be submitted for consideration, however any content submitted must be supplied by 31st March 2027 in its completed form or films will be removed from schedules.

We require a DCP to play your film, if you do not have one you have two options, expect it will play from a laptop, or we can create you one for £50 which includes a pen drive to hold it. This isn’t an excuse to exploit filmmakers, however industry standard is a DCP, this ensures your film looks and sounds as good as it can.

Any film not presented in English must come with English subtitles.

There is no exclusion for films that have been featured at other film festivals, films currently available on streaming services may also be included.

We do not pay revenue shares to screen your film, if you submit your film don't ask for it the responce may only hurt your feelings.

Filmmakers travelling from oversees are not paid for attending, Romford Film Festival prides itself on its Not For Profit status. However if filmmakers choose to attend, they will receive free festival tickets, be considered for awards (as will any submission) and will be part of a Q&A at the end of their film which is recorded, displayed on social media channels and sent to associated press.

Any film submitted cannot withdraw for any circumstances once the film has been selected and you have accepted the screening.

Fantastic festival on the Indie circuit and deserves much more recogniotion. Really well organised with regular updates and clear communication. Super helpful team who took the time to sit with me and go through DCP creation prior to the festival. Thank you to Spencer and team for hosting our film and for recognising us with the Best Student Film Award!

Was unable to attend but the festival always kept me notified on the goings on of the festival and its screenings. Was very honored to have our short "Nightjar" screen for audiences there. Hope to be able to travel there next time.

  • Thank you for selecting Garage. We received a warm and enthusiastic reception from the team. They were accommodating in their scheduling. The Q+A following our screening was in-depth and shows how supportive and encouraging they are of filmmakers. A wonderful networking opportunity. We'll be submitting again in future.

had an incredible experience at the Romford Film Festival and can honestly say it stands out from so many other festivals on the circuit. One of the biggest frustrations filmmakers often have with festivals is that many barely screen any actual films ; but Romford completely bucks that trend. Showing around 150 films over just four days, the festival is genuinely built for filmmakers and film lovers alike.

The hosting team were absolutely amazing from start to finish. Everyone was welcoming, supportive, organised, and clearly passionate about independent cinema. They created such a friendly atmosphere that made networking and attending screenings a real pleasure.

A special mention also has to go to the technical team. The projection and presentation quality were excellent, and seeing my movie on the big screen looking and sounding fantastic was a real highlight. It’s clear the festival takes great care in making sure filmmakers’ work is showcased professionally.

I would highly recommend any filmmaker consider entering their movie into the Romford Film Festival. It’s a festival that truly celebrates independent film and gives filmmakers the platform and respect their work deserves.
