Regenerative in Film and NYC Festival and Showcase - Rules and Terms
ELIGIBILITY
- Films must be documentary shorts with a running time of 35 minutes or less.
- Films must have been completed within the last 3 years.
- Films must address themes related to regenerative practices, environmental stewardship, sustainable food systems, or related outdoor/environmental topics.
- Films may be submitted by filmmakers of any nationality, but must include English subtitles if not in English.
- Submitted works must be the original creation of the applicant.
- Projects must be shot with real-life documentary subjects and cannot be AI creations.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- Complete submission form via Film Freeway with all required information.
- Films must be uploaded in high-quality digital format as specified on Film Freeway.
- Each submission must include a synopsis, director's statement, and at least three high-resolution stills from the film.
- Filmmakers must hold all necessary rights for public exhibition of their work.
SELECTION PROCESS
- All eligible submissions will be reviewed by our festival programming committee.
- Selected films will be notified via email by April 10th.
- The festival reserves the right to determine which category best suits each selected film.
- Selection decisions are final and cannot be appealed.
A pooled cash prize will be distributed among the top three films as follows:
- First Place: 50% of the prize pool
- Second Place: 33% of the prize pool
- Third Place: 17% of the prize pool
- Winners will also receive a sponsor goodie bag from Regenerative NYC sponsors, with items in the bag reflecting the placement of the film.
- Winners will be determined by a panel of judges selected by the festival organizers.
- Awards will be announced during the festival's closing ceremony.
- Additional special recognitions may be awarded at the discretion of the jury.
SCREENING RIGHTS
- By submitting your film, you grant the Regenerative in Film and NYC Festival and Showcase the right to screen your film during the event.
- You also agree to allow the festival to use clips (up to 2 minutes) and stills from your film for promotional purposes.
- The festival will not distribute, sell, or otherwise exploit your film beyond the agreed-upon screenings without your permission.
- Filmmakers retain all other rights to their work.
ATTENDANCE
- Filmmakers of selected films are encouraged to attend the festival.
- The festival cannot provide travel or accommodation assistance.
- Filmmakers of selected films will receive complimentary passes to all festival events.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
- Final screening copies must be provided by April 20th.
- Format requirements: 16:9 23.976 HD and 4K (if available) ProRes 422 LQ.
- Projects shot in 2.35, 2.39, or 9:16 must be matted to 16:9.
- The festival is not responsible for technical issues related to improperly formatted submissions.
LIABILITY
- The festival will take all reasonable care with materials submitted but cannot assume responsibility for damage or loss during submission or screening.
- Submitters are responsible for insuring their films and all related materials.
- The festival is not liable for any copyright infringement or other legal issues related to submitted films.
CANCELLATION POLICY
- We reserve the right to cancel the festival at any time, including for lack of entries.
- In the event the festival is canceled or postponed due to circumstances beyond our control, the festival will make reasonable efforts to reschedule.
- If rescheduling is not possible, the festival will notify all participants and may offer alternative screening opportunities.
AGREEMENT
- By submitting to the Regenerative in Film and NYC Festival and Showcase, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these terms and conditions.
- The festival organizers reserve the right to decide on any matters not covered by these rules and terms.
