As Norway's only film festival dedicated exclusively to fantastic cinema, RIFF is unique in Scandinavia, recognized among the "Top 100" reviewed festivals on FilmFreeway. Each year, our festival has experienced remarkable growth and excitement, consistently appearing on and off FilmFreeway's prestigious list of the top 100 best-reviewed film festivals worldwide over the past five years.

Our mission is to connect domestic and international filmmakers through the universal language of film. While we celebrate all forms of cinema, we place a special emphasis on fantastic genres, including Sci-Fi, Horror, Fantasy, Thriller, Dark Comedy, and more. RIFF is not just a festival; it is a vibrant gathering for filmmakers, cinema lovers, and creative weirdos to unite, share their passions, and revel in the captivating world of genre films.

Rules & Terms

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR ENTRY SUBMISSION:

Films submitted must have been completed after January 1, 2024. We will notify you by April 28th, 2026, if your film is officially selected. Please ensure your email and contact information are correct and up to date on FilmFreeway. All submissions must be sent in no later than May 6th, 2026. All films delivered after April 24th, 2026, will be considered for the following year's festival unless otherwise negotiated in advance.

All entries officially selected grant Ravenheart the right to use footage from the screener and trailer. You also grant RIFF permission to screen your film at the event and use any material sent to us for Ravenheart's promotional purposes without constraints.

Physical screeners, such as DCP or Blu-ray, will not be returned (unless further negotiated; please don't send us your master copy). They must arrive at least two weeks before the event and be postmarked well before.

    An amazing festival with organizers who truly take good care of their guests. There are also plenty of opportunities to connect with and get to know fellow filmmakers. The special 35mm screenings were particularly appreciated and added something truly special to the experience.

    RIFF were the most amazing host. Adam, Kay, Jen and the whole crew made us feel right at home, and their communication and support from start to finish were outstanding. The long haul from Australia was worth every minute just to hang out with the RIFF crew. The festival was run beautifully, and the films shown were world‑class. Massive credit to the entire team. The hosts are incredibly nice and friendly, creating a warm and welcoming environment for international filmmakers at the Cinemateket in Oslo. Finally, the festival curated a very interesting lineup of both feature and short films—I will definitely participate and visit again!
