REX Animation Film Festival is delighted to announce its 9th year, and this year with a notable change - the switch from a European to an International festival. As usual, the festival will run from October 28th to November 2nd, and our primary physical venue will be at Zita Folkets Bio, one of Stockholm's oldest cinemas.
In addition to our main physical festival, we are pleased to offer an online festival on the TriArt Play platform, where the audience can enjoy the festival from the comfort of their own homes. The online festival last one week longer than the physical one (28th of October to 10th of November)
The festival presents animated shorts and feature films from all over the world and includes a rich program of workshops, talks, Q&A sessions, and competitive and non-competitive film programs.
Our open call invites animated shorts produced worldwide and not older than January 1st, 2023. REX Animation Film Festival is the only film festival in Sweden dedicated solely to animated films. Initiated by Stockholm's European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) in 2015, the festival grows every year and offers a varied and colourful program of animated short and feature films for both adults and young people.

Föreningen REX Animationsfestival organizes REX Animation Film Festival in collaboration with EUNIC Stockholm. The festival is currently supported by the Swedish Film Institute and Stockholm Region.
