REELING: Dance on Screen Festival
Call for submissions, deadline May 15th
MZD is accepting submissions of short video works (10 minutes or less) for REELING: Dance on Screen Festival.
REELING’s focus this year is to represent Indigenous dance filmmakers based in Turtle Island, and also so-called Canadian dance filmmakers who have short (10 min max) dance films.
The CURATORIAL THEME is you. How do you move through life as you? What makes you unique? How is expression in dance specific to you? How does your past and your ancestry involve you?
Works could include (but are not limited to):
Contemporary dance, hip hop, cultural dances, work from equity-deserving artists, and
Interdisciplinary collaborations.
Up to 20 dance films will be selected and presented at the festival through various online and community events, including a big screen drive-in party and presentation.
Participants will receive:
A feature spot in the online festival, scheduled for July 2023
Credit and mention in festival promotion, and on the MZD website; and
an honorarium.
Chosen artists receive payment of $150 Canadian for their work.
