From June 3-7, 2026 DISCO RIOT will present San Diego’s only queer-focused movement-arts festival, Queer Mvmnt Fest. Queer Mvmnt Fest presents artists who identify as part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ dance community from San Diego and beyond. The festival features queer-focused spaces as well as events open to the general public, including performances, workshops, panel discussions, and movement-based short films. Queer Mvmnt Fest addresses inequity through an intersectional lens by centering the work of queer BIPOC and disabled artists.

We are looking for artists to present work for a Dance Film Screening during this festival on Wednesday June 3, 2026 in La Jolla, CA, USA. The film screening of short dance and movement films highlights queer imagery, movement art, expression and dance in the digital space.

We will provide the following to the selected artists:
● Live theater presentation of your film in San Diego
● A cash prize will be chosen by a live audience, and 2 additional cash prizes will be awarded by our producing artists for a total of three $300 cash prizes. Winners will be announced at the end of the festival.

*To be eligible to be considered for one of three cash prizes, films must be 2-10minutes long. All films must be under 10 minutes in length to be considered.
*Applicants must be over the age of 18.
*While this is an open application, the priority of programming artists for the festival will be on 2SLGBTQIA+ identified BIPOC artists.
*Films that feature nudity in alignment with dance/movement art and queer expression can be considered.

I showcased my film *Slugfest* at the Queer MVMNT Festival, and it was an amazing experience! I wish I could have attended in person to connect with everyone. Huge thanks to the organizers for celebrating diverse voices in film. Highly recommended for anyone passionate about queer cinema!

  • The dancer Dimitris Anastasopoulos (Mister Dem), along with the entire production team of "Τhe Silent Synthetic Symphony", extend our heartfelt thanks for showcasing our work. Unfortunately, we were unable to travel from Greece to San Diego. Keep up the amazing work.
