From June 9-15, 2023 DISCO RIOT will present San Diego’s only queer-focused movement-arts festival, Queer Mvmnt Fest for the third year. Under the direction of queer local dance artists, Desiree Cuizon and Trystan Merrick, this festival features artists whom identify as part of the queer, trans and gender-nonconforming dance community in San Diego and beyond. The wide variety of programming offers opportunities in queer focused spaces as well as sharing with the general public. Queer Mvmnt Fest will continue to highlight the work of BIPOC artists within the LGBTQ+ community, examining and centering the need for addressing inequity through an intersectional lens.
We are looking for artists to present work for a Dance Film Screening during this festival. The film screening of short dance and movement films highlights queer imagery, movement art, expression and dance in the digital space.
We will provide the following to the selected artists:
● Virtual and live theater presentation of your film in San Diego
● A cash prize will be chosen by a live audience, and 2 additional cash prizes will be awarded by our panel for a total of three $300 cash prizes. Winners will be announced on Monday June 17, 2024 at the end of the festival.
