Queen City Shout is an annual arts festival that takes place in Springfield, Missouri and directly supports poverty relief in the Ozarks. Each year, QCS hosts Film Screenings, Musical Performances, Poetry Slams, Dance Shows, Comedy Shows, Live Art and more.

This year, we've decided to create an actual festival for the film portion of the festival where filmmakers can submit their movie in hopes to be selected for screenings and awards. Queen City Shout will select 2 hours worth of short films to be screened at the festival.

Screenings take place at a local theater in Springfield, Missouri.

Queen City Shout Trophies for:
Best Film under 35 minutes
Best Film under 15 minutes
Best Lead Actor/Actress
Best Supporting Actor/Actress

Submissions are open only to filmmakers currently residing in the state of Missouri.
At least one key creative (Director, Writer, or Producer) must be a Missouri resident.
Proof of residency (e.g., state ID, utility bill, or student ID for student filmmakers) may be required.

Films must be submitted via FilmFreeway only.

Accepted genres: Narrative, Documentary, Experimental, Animation, Music Video, Student Films. Works-in-progress are not accepted unless explicitly approved in writing.

Short Films must have a minimum duration of 1 minute and a maximum of 35 minutes.

World Premiere status is not required.

We do not accept submissions that contain AI generated content.

Judging is performed by a curated panel of Missouri filmmakers, educators, and festival programmers. All decisions made by the selection committee are final.

Filmmakers may submit multiple entries, but each must have its own submission fee. No waivers will be given except at the discretion of festival leadership.

By submitting, the filmmaker confirms they own all rights to their film and have secured all necessary permissions for music, likenesses, and copyrighted content. The festival is permitted to use stills, trailers, and clips (up to 30 seconds) for festival promotion.

Submission fees are non-refundable under any circumstances. The festival is not responsible for damaged or lost materials. Submission implies acceptance of all festival rules and terms.

So grateful to have been in the Queen City Shout festival! They were so professional and welcoming, and even though I ended up not being able to attend because of work, I still made new connections from people who saw my work through them! 100% would submit again!
