1. The film must have been created, produced, filmed, and written on Vancouver Island or one of the BC Gulf Islands, Canada.
2. Filmmakers must provide a completed entry form on FilmFreeway by the deadline specified in the official call for entries. Late submissions will not be accepted.
3. Films must be no longer than 15 minutes in length, not including credits, with no technical issues with the sound and/or picture.
4. All films must be in English, or have English subtitles if they are in a different language.
5. The film festival will only accept digital copies of films for submission. All films must be submitted in a digital format, such as a video file or streaming link. Physical copies of films, including DVDs and Blu-rays, will not be accepted.
6. Filmmakers must ensure that their digital copy is of high quality and properly formatted for viewing. Any films submitted in a physical format will not be considered for the festival.
7. Films submitted to the film festival must have a PG rating or lower, and must not contain any foul language, discriminatory themes or language, hate speech, sexual activities, intense graphic images, cultural appropriation, or political agendas. Any film that violates these guidelines will be disqualified from the festival. We are committed to presenting a diverse and inclusive program that is appropriate for all audiences.
8. Applicants are fully responsible for collecting all necessary rights and permissions for any material created by a third party that is included in their film submission. This includes, but is not limited to, music, logos, images, copyright, and other intellectual property rights. The film festival will not be held responsible for any violations of intellectual property rights or copyright laws. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that they have obtained all necessary rights and permissions before submitting their film to the festival. Failure to do so may result in disqualification from the festival.
9. The Qualicum Beach Film Festival reserves the right to disqualify any film that does not meet the above requirements or that is deemed inappropriate for any reason.
10. The Qualicum Beach Film Festival reserves the right to make any necessary changes to the festival schedule or program.
11. By submitting a poster for the festival, the artist grants the Qualicum Beach Film Festival the right to use the poster for marketing purposes on social media and in programs before and after the festival.
12. By submitting a film to the Qualicum Beach Film Festival, filmmakers agree to all of the above rules and regulations.
