"One of the most beautiful cities in the world." (Sir Norman Foster, English star architect)

Double UNESCO World Heritage Site: Old Town with Stadtamhof and the Danube Limes

Only a few cities worldwide can boast two UNESCO World Heritage titles. Regensburg belongs to this exclusive circle. The city was awarded the first World Heritage title in 2006 for Regensburg's Old Town with Stadtamhof. Regensburg is the best preserved medieval city in Germany. More than 1,000 individual monuments come together to form the incredibly dense and sparkling picture of a medieval trading city.
The second title followed in 2021. The UNESCO World Heritage Site "Frontiers of the Roman Empire" was extended to include the Roman Danube Limes (Wet Limes).

14th QUEER-Streifen Filmfestival in 2025

During the 14th QUEER-Streifen Filmfestival in October 2025, we want to continue our well received programme of LGBTQ films from around the world. The award for the best short film will be decided by a jury of three.
The audience decides which films get the audience award for best gay, lesbian and queer short film.
The festival is non-profit and non-commercial.
To allow the festival to bring the vivid diversity of LGBTQ films to the silver screen, we would like to encourage you to submit your work.
QUEER-Streifen is member of QueerScope, the organisation of independent German queer film festivals.

  • It was an amazing festivals! Perfect organisation, friendly and festive ambiance, excellent film selection, the cinema was full of people for each screening, and I had the pleasure to participate in a very interesting and dynamic discussion with the spectators about my film. Actually, I'm still reflecting on some of the questions... The organisers were so friendly and hospitable that I really felt as a VIP-guest! Also, visiting to Queer-Strefien Festival gave me the opportunity to meet and exchange with many other filmmakers and film-lovers from different countries, and that is definitely an important moment for each film event. A small, but very nice bonus - the Italian restaurant of the cinema is delicious! And last, but not least - the town of Regensburg is very charming and beautiful - it's impossible not to fall in love with it!

A very nice and well-organized film festival with an audience award and a jury award. The cinema in Regensburg is very accommodating and has just the right size to get into conversation and expand your network. I enjoyed being there and I really liked it.
