Événement phare de la création artistique et de la renaissance culturelle des peuples autochtones des Amériques et du monde. Lieu de création, de rencontres et de découvertes, l’événement multidisciplinaire se déploie pendant dix jours en août. La place des Festivals, avec son tipi géant, devient alors le cœur battant d’une intense activité artistique qui rayonne dans toute la ville. . Le cinéma des premiers peuples est à l’honneur, des concerts mémorables font courir les foules, l’art autochtone vivant s’y offre dans une grande variété d’expression et de formes.

TERRES EN VUES, société pour la diffusion de la culture autochtone, siégeant à Montréal (Québec, Canada), organise le Festival international Présence autochtone, événement multidisciplinaire annuel, depuis 1991.

Le festival présente des œuvres audiovisuelles reflétant la vie des communautés autochtones et inuit des Amériques, leur monde réel et imaginaire, leur culture, leur spiritualité et leur histoire. Des peuples autochtones d’autres régions du monde y sont également représentés.

The Montreal First Peoples’ Festival:
A flagship event for artistic creation and the cultural renaissance of the indigenous peoples of the Americas and the world. A place of creation, encounters and discoveries, the multidisciplinary event unfolds over ten days in August. The Place des Festivals, with its giant teepee, becomes the beating heart of an intense artistic activity that radiates throughout the city. First Peoples’ cinema is in the spotlight, memorable concerts bring the crowds to their feet, and living Aboriginal art is offered in a wide variety of expressions and forms.

TERRES EN VUES / LAND InSIGHTS, an association created to promote Indigenous cultures, with headquarters in Montréal (Québec, Canada), has been organizing an annual multidisciplinary event called the International First Peoples Festival Présence Autochtone since 1991.

The festival shows recent audio-visual works that reflect the culture, history, spirituality and the contemporary reality of Indigenous Peoples across the Americas and from other parts of the world.

RÈGLEMENTS
1. Le Festival accepte des films réalisés en 2021-2022-2023-2024.

2. Les films qui ne sont pas en français ou anglais doivent obligatoirement avoir des sous-titres, de préférence français, ou anglais.

3. Les œuvres réalisées par des Autochtones ont priorité, mais le festival accueille aussi toute production sur des sujets pertinents et témoignant d’une collaboration entre Autochtones et créateurs non-autochtones.

4. Les oeuvres doivent ne PAS avoir eu de projection publique à Montréal avant la prochaine édition du festival en août 2024. *

5. Les films et vidéos disponibles publiquement en ligne (sans mot de passe) sur des plates-formes telles YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook ne sont pas éligibles.

MODALITÉS
1. Les projections ont lieu à Montréal et Kahnawake (territoire mohawk). Une diffusion Internet pourra être proposée aux ayant-droit pour certains films et fera alors l’objet d’une entente spécifique.

2. Le Festival versera un montant compensatoire pour les projections ; la grille tarifaire sera communiquée quand une œuvre est retenue. Le festival assume le coût du retour des copies de projection.

3. L’annonce du palmarès et la remise des prix aux gagnants s’effectuent durant un événement spécial dans le cadre des activités du festival.

RULES
1. The festival accepts works created in 2021-2022-2023-2024.

2. Films must have English or French subtitles when they are not in said languages. French subtitles are welcome for all films.

3. We primarily seek works made by Indigenous authors, but we also welcome any work on topics relevant to our objectives and exemplifying collaboration between Native people and non-Native filmmakers.

4. Submitted film must NOT have had a public screening in Montreal prior to the next edition of the festival, in August 2024.

5. Films/video work publicly accessible for viewing on the Internet WITHOUT a password (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook) are NOT eligible

TERMS
1. Screenings take place in Montréal and Kahnawake (Mohawk Territory). An Internet broadcast may be offered to rights holders for certain films and will then be the subject of a specific agreement.

2. The festival will pay a compensatory amount for screenings; the fee schedule will be communicated when a work is selected. The festival assumes the cost of returning the screening copies.

3. The announcement of the winners and the awards presentation will take place during a special event as part of the festival's activities.
