Potenza Film Festival was founded in 2004 as a participatory experience in social cinema, quickly becoming a reference point for the local and international independent film community that "acts" for people, the planet and prosperity by telling and pursuing the Sustainable Development Goals of theUN 2030 Agenda: legality and justice, combating climate change, sustainable communities, social inclusion, quality education, gender equality and combating inequality, responsible consumption, decent work, innovation and peace.
The festival focuses on new languages and independent filmmakers with tributes and special programs dedicated to the great masters of international cinema.
Over the years, it has hosted many international auteur film and cultural personalities including: Abbas Kiarostami, Babak Payami, Nobel Laureate Gao Xingjian, Domenico Starnone, Claudio Santamaria, Maysoon Pachachi, Jafar Panahi, Artur Aristakisyan, Enrico Ghezzi, Blaine Reininger, John Giorno, Michelangelo Frammartino, Maria Pia Fusco, Ben Gazzara and Babak Karimi.
In 2006 he received the Targa per Meriti Culturali from the President of the Italian Republic.
The next edition will be held Dec. 1-3, 2022, in Potenza at major locations in the city's downtown and suburbs.

The Potenza Film Festival is directed by Antonello Faretta and produced by Noeltan Arts.

AUDIENCE AWARD, the main prize that the festival audience will assign to the best works of each competition.

The festival and its partners reserve the right to award further prizes to films of particular artistic and cultural value.

REGULATIONS

Organizers and promoters
The Potenza Film Festival 2022 (PotenzaFF) is organized by Noeltan Arts and is mainly supported by the Basilicata Region (as part of the Integrative Act I by Regione Basilicata Sensi Contemporanei "The development of the audiovisual industry in Southern Italy") in synergy with public and private partners.

Purposes
PotenzaFF is a community of research, study, enhancement and comparison for the new international cinema in its various forms and artistic trends, with particular attention to emerging cinema, independent and experimental cinema, young filmmakers, new languages ​​and new technologies within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN Agenda 2030.
Within all its sections, both competitive and non-competitive, the Festival promotes the knowledge and dissemination of innovative films by authors characterized by stylistic and formal research and the use of new technologies and new languages, favoring the exchange of experiences among filmmakers, the enhancement and discovery of new international film talents and the promotion of Basilicata as an ecological poetic link between landscape, light and sound.

Date, place and duration
The PotenzaFF will take place in Potenza from 1 to 3 December 2022 at Cineteatro Don Bosco, the National Library of Potenza and other places in the city.

Festival sections
The festival is divided into the following sections:
> Feature film competition;
> Documentary competition;
> Short film competition;
> Competition "La scuola gira";
> Out of competition and special programs.

Feature film competition
The selection of the films is made by the festival directiion and its organizers.
Films from any country in the world, both published and unpublished, made after January 1, 2020, can participate in this section. The duration of the works must be more than 60 minutes. There are no foreclosures of themes and/or formats, but priority will be given to works that "act" for people, the planet and prosperity, narrating and pursuing the objectives for sustainable development of the UN 2030 Agenda.
The audience present in the cinema will award the Audience Award to the best film in competition. It will be the faculty of the organizers and its partners to assign further prizes and/or special mentions to films deemed of particular artistic and cultural value.

Documentary competition
The selection of the films is made by the festival direction and its organizers.
Films from any country, both published and unpublished, made after January 1, 2020, can participate in this section. The duration of the works must be greater than 30 minutes and less than 60 minutes in duration. There are no foreclosures of themes and/or formats, but priority will be given to works that "act" for people, the planet and prosperity, narrating and pursuing the objectives for sustainable development of the UN 2030 Agenda.
The audience present in the cinema will award the Audience Award to the best film in competition. It will be the faculty of the organizers and its partners to assign further prizes and/or special mentions to films deemed of particular artistic and cultural value.

Short film competition
The selection of the films is made by the festival direction and its organizers.
Short films from any country, both published and unpublished, made after January 1, 2020, can participate in this section. The duration of the works must not exceed 30 minutes. There are no foreclosures of themes and/or formats, but priority will be given to works that "act" for people, the planet and prosperity, narrating and pursuing the objectives for sustainable development of the UN 2030 Agenda.
The audience present in the cinema will assign the Audience Award to the best international short film in competition and the Audience Award to the best short film shot in Basilicata and/or by a Lucanian author in competition. It will be the faculty of the organizers and its partners to assign further prizes and/or special mentions to films deemed of particular artistic and cultural value.

Competition "La Scuola Gira"
The selection of the films is made by the festival direction and its organizers.
Short films from schools of all levels of Basilicata, both published and unpublished, made after 1 January 2020 can participate in this section. The duration of the works must not exceed 30 minutes. There are no foreclosures of themes and/or formats, but priority will be given to works that "act" for people, the planet and prosperity, narrating and pursuing the objectives for sustainable development of the UN 2030 Agenda.
The audience present in the hall will award the Audience Award to the best short film in competition. It will be the faculty of the organizers and its partners to assign further prizes and/or special mentions to films deemed of particular artistic and cultural value.

Out of competition and special programs
The selection of the films is made by and at the sole discretion of the Festival Direction and its organizers. Feature films, documentaries and short films can participate in these sections without limitations of genre and year of production.

Film submission and deadline
The submission of the films involves the payment of a registration fee as reimbursement of secretarial expenses:
> 10 euros for short films (also for the section “La scuola gira”);
> 15 euros for documentaries;
> 20 euros for feature films.
Only films in compliance with the payment of the registration fee will be considered for the selection.
The applications to the Festival must be submitted using FilmFreeway (https://filmfreeway.com/PotenzaFilmFestival). During data entry, payment of the registration fee is required. If a film is not selected, the entry fee will not be refunded.
The owners of the works who intend to participate to the Festival (in any section) must, no later than 23 October 2022, send a link to the film following the procedures indicated in the registration form on the FilmFreeway platform.
Any costs of sending and transporting all the material for the selection are at the expense of the participants.
Copies of the films entered will not be returned but will be deposited and donated to the Audiovisual Archive of the Potenza Film Festival (AAPFF) held at the National Library of Potenza which deals with their cataloging and digitization in order to make them freely available to students, scholars or cinema enthusiasts for research and documentation purposes only. The AAPFF reserves the right to use them exclusively for informative, promotional, educational and cultural projections, without any profit.
Any insurance costs are borne by the authors or productions.
Authors and/or Producers are responsible for the content of their works and declare, by registering with PotenzaFF, that they have fulfilled all obligations arising from copyright towards third parties.

Invited films and screening copies
For the works invited to the Festival, the organizers will take care of requesting complete documentation by providing a list of the required materials.
The copies of the films and videos (exclusively on file at the best projection quality available) invited to the festival must reach the organizers no later than 23 November 2022, following the instructions that will be provided by the organizers.
The projection film files will not be returned but archived in the Audiovisual Archive of the Potenza Film Festival for study, research and free dissemination purposes only.

Films screening
The calendar and times of the screenings are the responsibility of the festival director.
All films will be screened in their original language with subtitles in Italian (and in English). The authors and/or productions of foreign films must provide the festival with two screening copies: one with Italian subtitles and the other (in the case of films not in English) with English subtitles. The authors and producers of films in Italian must provide a screening copy with English subtitles.
The invited films will be screened exclusively in the formats of the file sent at the highest possible quality and audio-video resolution.
The festival management will take care of the publication of a general catalog of the works presented in two languages, Italian/English.
Official copies for the screening of films on file will not be returned.
In case of selection, PotenzaFF does not recognize any fee for the screening of the film.

Winning films
The winners must put the wording with the name of the prize and the logo of the Potenza Film Festival on the projection copy of the awarded film.

General rules
These Regulations are in Italian and English. In the event of interpretation problems, the Italian version prevails.
The sending of the works implies the total and unconditional acceptance of these Regulations.
Furthermore, the sending of the works implies the non-exclusive authorization to the Festival organizers to disseminate and make available to the public - through their website and by any other means and other known form - clips or sequences of the works presented, without claim any compensation for the authors of the same.
The sending of photographic and/or informative material (set photos, photos of the author, bio-filmography, synopsis of the film, declaration of the author, posters ...) related to the film sent also implies the non-exclusive authorization to the organizers of the festival to disseminate and make available to the public - through publication in the official catalog and website of the festival and by any other means and other known form - images and information relating to the works presented.
The judgments relating to the awards of the works are unquestionable.
The festival organization assumes no responsibility for any theft or damage to the works.
By registering with PotenzaFF, authors and/or producers guarantee that the work presented does not constitute plagiarism and/or counterfeiting of the works of others and does not violate either in whole or in part the rights of third parties of any kind (copyright and intellectual property, image and personal rights, etc.); in any case it undertakes to hold the organizers harmless and indemnified from any request and claim made by third parties, for any reason whatsoever, without prejudice to the organisation's right to compensation for damage.
Participation in the festival implies having read and therefore implicitly approved the information reported by the organizers in the information relating to the processing of personal data signed in the registration form.

Privacy
Pursuant to Directive (EU) 2016/680 of the European Parliament and of the Council, of 27 April 2016, relating to the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data by the competent authorities for the purposes of prevention, investigation, verification and prosecution of crimes or execution of criminal sanctions, as well as the free circulation of such data and which repeals the framework decision 2008/977/JHA of the Council, we inform you that the personal data acquired directly by the organizers at the time of completing the registration form will be treated in compliance of the aforementioned legislation on the protection of personal data to allow, directly or indirectly, the carrying out of the event, as well as for the pursuit of the purposes in any case connected and / or connected to participation in the Potenza Film Festival and its promotion.
The provision of personal data is necessary in order to carry out the provisions of this Regulation.
At any time, the participant can exercise their rights including - by way of example - the right to obtain information on the processing of data, its methods and purposes, etc. To exercise these rights, the interested party must contact Noeltan Srl, via Gandhi 19, 85100 Potenza (PZ) Italy, email: studio@noeltan.it.
The participant gives his consent to the processing of his personal data, directly or also through third parties, also authorizing storage in the Noeltan Srl database.
The participant declares to have been informed of the purposes and methods of the processing of the data knowingly indicated in the registration form, also declares to authorize the processing and storage in the Noeltan Srl database. The undersigned declares to have read, know and accept the Regulation in its entirety, with particular reference to the indemnification obligation in favor of Noeltan Srl.

The regulations and the registration form are published on the official website of the Festival: www.potenzaff.it.

The Festival direction may take decisions relating to matters not covered by these regulations. The Court of Potenza is competent for any dispute.
