Pedro Aspahan is a Brazilian musician, film director and film lecturer at the School of Fine Arts of UFMG (Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil).
He has a special interest in the relationship between music and film, developing his PhD thesis on this subject (2013-2017), more specifically, on the aesthetics of serialism in modern cinema and contemporary music, at UFMG (Brazil) and King's College London (UK).
He developed a postdoctoral research at UFMG for five years, coordinating the audiovisual sector of a Program dedicated to the Masters of popular, indigenous and afro-Brazilian traditional cultures (www.saberestradicionais.org).
He acts mainly as a director, sound engineer and film editor, being specialized in documentary and music.
His first feature film, "Matéria de Composição" (The Composing Material, 2013, 82', HD) was screened in lots of festivals in Brazil and around the world, receiving many awards (Riviera Maya Film Festival in Mexico, Do you mean architecture, in Lisbon, Mostra de Cinema de Tiradentes, Festival Olhar de Cinema de Curitiba, Semana dos Realizadores in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, etc.).
