Paul Snider is an actor / musician / writer / producer. He graduated with a Joint Honours Music and Computer Science degree from the University of Waterloo. He divided his time between writing computer software and performing in theatre and films. In 1997 he became partner in a software start-up company helping to build it to one of the fastest growing technology companies in BC, which won numerous awards including 2005 Entrepreneur of the Year. Paul was named one of “Business In Vancouver’s Top 40 Under 40”.
In 2009 Paul departed the software industry to start his entertainment production company Born To Fly Entertainment. He wrote a sung-through musical called The Curtain and produced a full cast music album. This is a love story between an East Berlin woman and an American man during the fall of the Berlin Wall. He wrote, produced, directed, scored and starred in his feature film Everywhere But Here and his short film The Walk, both of which were official selections in film festivals, the latter winning multiple awards and having screened in festivals in Los Angeles, Winnipeg, Toronto, Vancouver and New York.
As a working actor, Paul has appeared in over 85 short films and commercials. He wrote and produced his comedy short films Solo Duet and Solo Duet: Who’s On First, which uniquely features Paul as two characters in the same scene, garnering various awards at comedy film festivals around the world. Paul also performs stand-up comedy, appearing at YukYuks and the Comedy Mix in Vancouver, and at The City Limits Comedy Club in Ireland.
Experimenting with creating music from different sounds, Paul wrote and produced a new musical Junk! The Musical with his original music, performed by his 12-person orchestra playing original instruments he built from recycled junk. This show debuted at the Vancouver Fringe Festival in September 2014. He remounting his show and called it The Music of Junk which has toured large theatres throughout BC between 2015 and 2018. Then in 2018 Paul released his folk-rock album The Letter.
In 2019 Paul built the Street Beats' Wall of Sound created from found objects and recycled materials. This was installed at various locations in Vancouver, BC.
His latest music project is his Orchestra of Sound, which takes the concepts from his previous music show to new heights, gathering hundreds of sounds from the world around us and creating beautiful, melodic music in a live multi-media stage show like no other. His one-man show premiered at the Vancouver Fringe Festival in 2023 and then appeared internationally at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2024.
In 2025 Paul released his short horror film The Castle to film festivals throughout North America.
