Please understand we are not making little of this pandemic or mocking it. We are embracing the situation the world has been thrust into and are turning something wonderful out of something horrible. Something that our industry does beautifully!
This festival was born out of necessity. This is a horrible time for the world and particularly the film community. In better times most of us struggle to make ends meet but we do it for the passion and love of our art. Now, not only have we lost our incomes but we also lost our ability to group together and create art. Our goal at The Pandemic Film Festival is to give our community a creative outlet and to help provide for those of us who are really struggling during this time. We are donating 10% of all of the fees we receive to the actors fund (www.actorsfund.org). This amazing organization is dedicated to help everyone in our performing arts and entertainment community with emergency financial assistance, affordable housing, health insurance counseling, supplemental employment, addiction and recovery services and so much more.

Winners of each category will go head to head for a Best of Show award and that winner will receive 10% of all money received from the entry fees. All winning entries will also be presented to an award winning production houses with the hope that your work impresses them enough that they will fund future projects or the full scale production of your current submission.

It is important that we are safe while we express our creativity therefore the rules are very simple:
The film must be in English or have English subtitles. There can be no risky social contacts for this project and you should follow all safety standards. You can record by yourself with family members or with anyone that you are in regular contact with while following ALL federal guidelines. I.E. if you are hospital workers gathered for the performance of your duties and want to stay after work and shoot a video that is OK. If a bunch of people want to film themselves individually and combine their efforts with special effects or editing so it appears as a single location that is also fine. The creativity is up to you just be safe and follow the social distancing guidelines!

As far as I can tell, no event took place.

My film was selected, but sadly there has been no communication since - no news on this page, no responses to emails and their website seems to have disappeared. Perhaps the festival was cancelled? It would be great to know either way, please.

  • I appreciate the opportunity this film festival offered during a global pandemic. I was limited by every single standard of professional filmmaking causing me to do everything myself. For a film festival to be able to able to recognize that and offer some kind of consolation prize "as in simply being selected to participate in the festival" is honorable. Thank you - Writer, Producer, Director - Sheldon Woodson
