Piano B Film Festival (Plan B Film Festival) is a great little film festival in the heart of Rome.
“Piano B produzioni” is an Italian movie production company based in Rome, since a lot of year in the cinema industry.
Among its most important productions the film/documentary distributed throughout the all over the world "ENNIO" by Giuseppe Tornatore, on the life of Maestro Ennio Morricone.
The festival was born to create a moment dedicated to getting to know new authors and to be able to give cinephiles from all over the world the opportunity to compare themselves, creating concrete opportunities for professionals in the cine-audiovisual world.
Through the festival we could discover new authors and give them the opportunity to produce new works.
The festival is mainly focused on short films, but there will also be a section dedicated to feature films.
The first edition of the festival was took place in Rome at the MADISON CINEMA.
A couple days dedicated to screenings, introductions, discussions and awards.

Piano B Film Festival (Plan B Film Festival) è un piccolo grande festival cinematografico nel cuore di Roma.
“Piano B produzioni” è una società di produzionI cinematografiche italiana con sede a Roma, da molti anni attiva nel settore cinematografico.
Tra le sue produzioni più importanti il film/documentario distribuito in tutto il mondo "ENNIO" di Giuseppe Tornatore, sulla vita del Maestro Ennio Morricone.
Il festival nasce per creare un momento dedicato alla conoscenza di nuovi autori e per poter dare l'opportunità ai cinefili di tutto il mondo di confrontarsi, creando opportunità concrete per i professionisti del mondo cine-audiovisivo.
Attraverso il festival vogliamo scoprire nuovi autori e dare loro l'opportunità di produrre nuove opere.
Il festival è incentrato principalmente sui cortometraggi, ma ci sarà anche una sezione dedicata ai lungometraggi.
La prima edizione del festival si è svolta a Roma presso il MADISON CINEMA
Due intere giornate dedicate a proiezioni, presentazioni, dibattiti e premiazioni.

Best fiction short film, laurel and trophy
Best feature film, laurel and trophy
Best animated short film, laurel and trophy
Best original soundtrack, laurel and trophy
Best local film, laurel and trophy
Best documentary, laurel and trophy

Rules & Terms

Short films, feature films and animated films from all over the world that have been produced since 2017 can submit for the festival.

The maximum duration of short films is 40 minutes including credits

The minimum duration of feature films is 70 minutes including credits

No any limit of duration for documentaries

All works will automatically participate in the best original soundtrack award

To participate as a local work, the director must be from Rome or the film must have been shot mainly in Rome.

Selected projects need to provide the film with English subtitles.
H264 or prores files. If DCP is available will be better for a better quality screening.

Each author is responsible for the contents of his own work and the dissemination of music and images protected by copyright.

Possono partecipare al festival cortometraggi, lungometraggi e film d'animazione provenienti da tutto il mondo prodotti a partire dal 2017.

La durata massima dei cortometraggi è di 40 minuti compresi i titoli di coda

Nessun limite di durata per i documentari

Tutte le opere parteciperanno automaticamente al premio per la migliore colonna sonora originale

Per partecipare come opera locale il regista deve essere romano oppure il film deve essere stato girato prevalentemente a Roma.

I progetti selezionati dovranno essere forniti con sottotitoli in inglese.
File H264 o ProRes. Se è disponibile il DCP sarà meglio per una proiezione di migliore qualità.

    Although I couldn't be physically present at the inaugural Piano B Film Festival, I want to take this opportunity to express how impressed I was with the event. It’s clear that behind it all is a truly dedicated organization that is committed to doing things right and has an inside understanding of the industry, with a very careful selection process. It’s obvious that the festival has made a strong entrance and is eager to establish itself as an important platform within the world of independent and emerging cinema.

    The planning and coordination of the festival feel very well thought out, with great care and attention to detail, making the experience genuinely enriching for everyone involved. The variety and quality of the films, along with the activities offered, reflect a genuine commitment to cinematic art and the community surrounding it.

    What struck me most was the rigorous and meticulous selection process. Unlike other festivals, here filmmakers see the evolution of their works throughout the selection process, which undoubtedly enhances the experience and helps elevate the festival’s level. This demonstrates a deep respect for both cinema and the audience, supporting innovative and high-quality projects.

    I want to congratulate the entire team for their effort and dedication in creating a cultural space that celebrates creativity and talent in film. I look forward to seeing what the next edition will bring.
