The Portland Motorcycle Film Festival screens feature length and short motorcycle films that showcase the passion of riders and the souls of their machines. The films take us on journeys, showcase creativity and personal vision, and reveal the intensity and speed of the race track.

The Festival takes place at the Hollywood Theatre, a classic Portland venue built in 1926 and restored with modern screen and sound.

Films selected for the Festival will be judged by a panel of Portland-based artists and designers who share a passion for motorcycles.

The festival is hosted by the Oregon Motorcycle Road Racing Association as a fundraiser for purchase, deployment and repair of Air Fence protective barriers and related safety equipment used during motorcycle events at Portland International Raceway.

Prevent injury. Save a life.

And whatever else you do…ride.

The festival is open to all films related to motorcycles or motorcycling culture. Please do not submit films that are not about or prominently feature motorcycling; they will not be considered.

There is no completion date requirement for the PDXMCFF. The festival will, however, consider premiere status and previous screenings when making its selections.

All submissions must be in English or contain burned-in English subtitles.

If selected, the preferred format for the festival is a DCP, or a digital file if DCP is unavailable.

Submission Formats: The festival requires one digital file, online screener, Blu-Ray, or DVD. Physical media should include the title and total running time. Preview materials will NOT be returned. Any subtitles for digital files must be burned-in; please do not submit separate subtitle files for screening or exhibition.

The festival is a charity event and does not pay screening fees. Submitters represent that they have the rights to authorize screening of their film and grant PDXMCFF permission to exhibit the film during the festival if selected. Submitters agree to indemnify PDXMCFF and its organizers for any claims resulting from the exhibition of their submission.

Selected films grant permission to use stills and, for features, up to 2 minutes of footage for the purpose of promoting the festival, in addition to any trailer for the film.

I've never experienced a more engaged crowd. Packed with motorcycle lovers, the festival is full speed from start to finish. Different styles, different genres, audience didn't care, they loved them all. A well run two day party filled with artistic stories told with style. If you have a film or just want to sit and enjoy with a raucous crowd, this is your festival. #DirtTrackDickie

PDXMFF was a really great experience. The venue was beautiful, and the crew who put the festival together were thoughtful, welcoming, and clearly cared about both the films and the filmmakers.

I really enjoyed participating in the Q&A as well it was a fun, open conversation and gave me the chance to talk about my process and my experience making the films, which doesn’t always happen in such a meaningful way.

It was especially special for me because two of my films, Slowly Going Faster and Rally Kats, were selected, and Rally Kats was chosen as Best Short Film. As someone who’s relatively new to filmmaking, that recognition meant a lot and was incredibly validating. I’m very grateful for the experience and the support from the festival and audience.

Flew out to Portland from Atlanta for the screening. My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time. Packed theater, full of motorcycle enthusiasts…wonderful two nights of films. Being asked to participate in the director’s discussion panel was an honor, and seeing my film on the giant screen as movie-goers reacted to it was an experience I just can’t describe! Thank you PMFF!
