Portland, Oregon is known for being a laid back, fun town, with lots to do. Whether it’s the nature experience, the arts or the wonderful food options, if you haven’t visited at least once, perhaps it’s time you came out here! The Oregon Short Film Festival is now a bi-annual event on the Film Festival Circuit for filmmakers and screenwriters of all genres to showcase their creative works in Portland. This event was founded by author and retired filmmaker Mikel Fair who worked on location in the Film and Television industry from 1999-2015. We have chosen the 5th Avenue Cinema on the campus of Portland State University to screen several programs of international independent short films in a "back to back" format in HD 1080p. All types of films and screenplays are accepted, from Drama to Dark Comedy, Documentary to Science Fiction, Romantic Comedy to Horror Films and much more.  The judges are looking for films that have engaging content, good acting, creativity, strong production value and great stories to entertain the Portland audience in a fun, fast paced program at a great venue. We now host two different networking parties where you can meet directors, screenwriter, cast, crew and film industry professionals and discuss your future projects. Come enjoy a great slate of films and network with us in Portland.

The Oregon Short Film Festival was a delight in terms of communication and how the event was handled. Mikel and his team knock it out of the park with a good variety of shorts that flowed perfectly with each other. Lots of networking each night and a very awesome theatre with a great audience.I wish I could have attended the whole event but definitely will be returning to it whenever the next project rolls around! Thanks for having Banshee Avalon be a part of the 2020 season. Highly reccomended!

Mikel Fair, despite how busy he was running Oregon Short Film Festival, he took the time via email and in person to make sure I was updated on all the logistics before traveling there (i.e. the screening schedule, award show schedule and getting a couple free tickets for my film team to come.) Also after my screening, he went out of his way to point me to specific people that could help grow my film career, in terms of networking.. A very good experience.

  • I wasn't able to attend so they were kind enough to move my film to August. The communication is extraordinary. I'm looking forward to attending in August!

  • This is a fantastic festival and well worth the trip if you're coming from out of state/country to attend. My film, Suburban Jungle, won Best Drama Film and they had a great reception for the award winners, but what really stood out to me was the fact that they also gave out award certificates for all the nominees. Every nominee had their time in the spotlight and that's a rare thing to see at a festival. You may also notice as you're reading through the other reviews that the festival director, Mikel Fair, is frequently mentioned in high regard. Trust me... it is well deserved. He is the most responsive festival director I've ever been in communication with after my film's acceptance and he's just a genuinely friendly guy. I definitely recommend this festival.

Loved this festival! I wasn't able to attend in person, but communication was always up-to-date on what was going on, opportunities to network were conveyed, and I was honored to have my short screenplay selected.
