**6th Edition of the OCULTO Horror and Fantasy Film Festival**
We are delighted to announce the Official Call for Submissions for the upcoming 6th Edition of the OCULTO Horror and Fantasy Film Festival. OCULTO continues its mission to provide a platform for filmmakers and content creators to showcase their outstanding work in the categories of short and feature films.
**ABOUT THE FESTIVAL:**
The OCULTO Horror and Fantasy Film Festival is a celebration of genre cinema, where we explore the depths of horror, mystery, fantasy, and the supernatural. As an international platform, our festival invites talented filmmakers from around the world to present their creations, be it a chilling short film or an epic feature-length production. OCULTO aims to provide an immersive experience in genre cinema to a diverse audience while fostering connections and viewing opportunities for all participating filmmakers.
**CATEGORIES:**
We invite submissions in the following categories:
1. **Short Films:** We are looking for compelling genre short films that captivate and thrill our audience.
2. **Feature-Length Films:** For storytellers with a longer narrative to share, our feature-length film category welcomes your passionate storytelling.
**AWARDS:**
The OCULTO Horror and Fantasy Film Festival will acknowledge excellence in various categories, including:
- Best International Short Film
- Best Mexican Short Film
- Best Animated Short Film
- Best Director
- Best Actor
- Best Actress
**SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:**
- Films must belong to the horror, mystery, fantasy, or supernatural genre.
- All productions must have been completed after the year 2023.
- Short films should have a duration of 15 minutes or less.
- Feature-length films should have a duration exceeding 70 minutes.
- Submissions will be accepted ONLY through FilmFreeway, and the only accepted formats for consideration at the festival are H.264, MP4, and MOV.
- Unfinished productions may be submitted for consideration, provided they have followed the submission process through FilmFreeway. However, we strongly recommend submitting only finished projects for the jury to fully appreciate the completed creative vision.
- Regardless of the country or the original language of the production, all footage not in Spanish must have Spanish subtitles or dubbing to be considered in the festival.
**REQUIRED MATERIAL:**
- All footage submitted to FilmFreeway for consideration must include a one-paragraph synopsis of the film.
- Student filmmakers must provide a valid student ID when submitting their footage.
- All footage considered for the festival must include a 25-35 second trailer to promote the film before the festival.
- Participants must sign a commitment letter accepting a remote or in-person interview to discuss their film, career, creative process, distribution method, or other related topics within the OCULTO Horror and Fantasy Film Festival networks.

- Projection of selected films in Mexico and the United States.
- Recognition for the best short film, best director, best actor, best actress, best cinematography, and best special effects and/or visual effects.
- An exclusive masterclass during our festival for filmmakers and their creative teams (not open to the general public) if selected.

Estamos encantados de anunciar la Convocatoria Oficial para la próxima 6ta Edición del Festival de Cine de Horror y fantástico OCULTO. OCULTO continúa su misión de brindar una plataforma para que cineastas y creadores de contenido muestren su destacado trabajo en las categorías de cortometrajes y largometrajes.
**SOBRE EL FESTIVAL:**
El Festival de Cine de Horror y fantástico OCULTO es una celebración del cine de género, donde exploramos las profundidades del horror, el misterio, lo fantástico y lo sobrenatural. Como plataforma internacional, nuestro festival invita a talentosos cineastas de todo el mundo a presentar sus creaciones, ya sea un escalofriante cortometraje o una épica producción de largometraje. OCULTO tiene como objetivo brindar una experiencia inmersiva de cine de género a una audiencia diversa, al tiempo que fomenta conexiones y oportunidades de visualización para todos los cineastas que participan.
**CATEGORÍAS:**
Invitamos a presentar producciones en las siguientes categorías:
1. **Cortometrajes:** Estamos en busca de convincentes cortometrajes de género que cautiven y emocionen a nuestra audiencia.
2. **Largometrajes:** Para aquellos narradores con una historia más extensa que contar, nuestra categoría de largometrajes da la bienvenida a sus apasionantes narrativas.
**PREMIOS:**
El Festival de Cine de Horror OCULTO reconocerá la excelencia en diversas categorías, incluyendo:
- Mejor Cortometraje Internacional
- Mejor Cortometraje Mexicano
- Mejor Cortometraje Animado
- Mejor Director
- Mejor Actor
- Mejor Actriz
**LINEAMIENTOS DE PARTICIPACIÓN:**
- Las películas deben pertenecer al género de horror, misterio, fantastico o lo sobrenatural.
- Todas las producciones deben haberse completado después del año 2023.
- Los cortometrajes deben tener una duración de 15 minutos o menos.
- Los largometrajes deben tener una duración superior a 70 minutos.
- Las inscripciones se realizarán ÚNICAMENTE a través de FilmFreeway y los únicos formatos aceptados para su consideración en el festival son H.264, MP4 y MOV.
- Las producciones no terminadas pueden presentarse para su consideración, siempre y cuando hayan seguido el proceso de inscripción a través de FilmFreeway. Sin embargo, recomendamos encarecidamente presentar solo proyectos terminados para que el jurado pueda apreciar la visión creativa completada.
- Independientemente del país o idioma original de la producción, todo metraje cuya lengua original no sea el español debe tener subtítulos en español o doblaje para ser considerado en el festival.
**MATERIAL REQUERIDO:**
- Todo el metraje presentado a FilmFreeway para su consideración debe incluir un resumen de un párrafo de la película.
- Los cineastas estudiantes deben proporcionar una identificación estudiantil válida al presentar su metraje.
- Todo el metraje considerado para el festival debe incluir un tráiler de 25-35 segundos para promocionar la película antes del festival.
- Los participantes deben firmar una carta de compromiso aceptando una entrevista a distancia o en persona para discutir su metraje, carrera, proceso creativo, método de distribución u otros temas similares dentro de las redes del Festival de Cine de Horror y fantastico OCULTO.
**BENEFICIOS:**
- Proyección de las producciones en México y Estados Unidos.
- Reconocimiento para el mejor cortometraje, mejor director, mejor actor, mejor actriz, mejor cinematografía y mejores efectos especiales y/o visuales.
- Clase magistral exclusiva durante nuestro festival para los cineastas y su equipo creativo (no abierta al público en general) en caso de ser seleccionados.
