The Ocktober Film Festival (OFF) is one of the few film festivals that is housed in its own NY movie theater. OFF serves as a platform for artist to express themselves through film and new media. We are proud to announce that as an established film festival we are listed on IMDB.

The Ocktober Film Festival is heavily involved with the independent filmmaking community and therefore, has become a trusted resource for emerging and established filmmakers. OFF 2019 showcased some of the best visionaries and creatives from around the world. This year we will be expanding our efforts to include more opportunities for all of our selected filmmakers.

We look forward to providing useful information that will enrich and empower the filmmaking community. Educational workshops in acting, writing, filmmaking, producing, distribution and financing will be available to all of our filmmakers and guests.

Fantastic intimate festival focused on cultivating indie filmmakers. Founder, Emelyn hits the nail on the head with this fest: Free admission so film screenings are as accessible as possible, location at Emelyn's Stuart Cafe and Cinema, networking and programmatic opportunities to learn/ grow as a filmmaker. Bonus: literally everyone working the fest is really nice and they made me feel very supported both at the fest and beyond!

Emelyn and the Ocktober Film Festival team did an amazing job! This festival was packed full of information about the industry, and everyone who screened received a free copy of the book "Entertainment Power Players" Not to mention the festival was FREE to attend! They really want to see filmmakers succeed. Thank you for selecting "Rhonda Mitchell M.D." I'll definitely be back!

  • Ocktober Film Festival is a must submit. Emelyn has created a home to nurture artist who are creating content. This festival has it's own dedicated theater in exciting Brooklyn and they bring experienced industry talent to dialogue and network with the actors, producers, writers and directors. If you are accepted in the festival you definitely should try to attend.

  • The Ocktober Film Festival was a great experience! Emelyn Stuart runs a warm ship — meaning, she wants you to feel warm and welcome. You won’t get lost among hundreds of other filmmakers. She deliberately keeps it small so that she can talk to all of her filmmakers and so that you feel seen and appreciated. Carl Gilbert, is her right hand man, helping her to run the festival and he is also pretty great. They brought in a Emmy Award Winning Showrunner to speak to us during the Director/Producer panel. A beautiful brunch was spread out for us on the last day, which was also Awards day. We were also blessed to have a best selling author give us a wonderful motivating talk. Plenty of opportunity to meet other people, take pictures and of course watch some fantastic films. The block selections were stellar. The screen and sound were stellar. It was such a joy and honor to have been selected to screen in this festival. I highly recommend!
