Ocktober Film Festival

The Ocktober Film Festival (OFF) is one of the few film festivals that is housed in its own NY movie theater. OFF serves as a platform for artist to express themselves through film and new media. We are proud to announce that as an established film festival we are listed on IMDB.

The Ocktober Film Festival is heavily involved with the independent filmmaking community and therefore, has become a trusted resource for emerging and established filmmakers. OFF has showcased some of the best visionaries and creatives from around the world. This year we will be expanding our efforts to include more opportunities for all of our selected filmmakers. Including a limited theatrical run for our Best Feature Film and Documentary.

We look forward to providing useful information that will enrich and empower the filmmaking community. Educational workshops in acting, writing, filmmaking, producing, distribution and financing will be available to all of our filmmakers and guests.

Best Feature Film - Limited theatrical run at Stuart Cinema

Best Short Film - Your film will screen as part of Block Buster Movie Pre-Show
Best Web Series - One free theatrical screening, with proceeds going to filmmaker.
Music Video - Screening In our movie theater cafe for 30 Days following the festival.

DEADLINES: Deadlines are firm. No exceptions.

SUBTITLES: All non-English language films must be subtitled in English

There are no restrictions on when your film was shot, we are accepting projects created before 2024.

AFTER SUBMISSION ACCEPTANCE: In order for your title to be included in the Festival, you must agree to provide the following materials to OFF within 14 days of acceptance:

1. For film, at least one screen shot of the title, and box art if available. Image must be in jpg format, 300 dpi,
2. A trailer of the film as MP4 file.
3. Exhibition format(s) of your project, delivered no later than 14 days after acceptance (.mp4 or .mov file sent in downloadable link).
4. Copies of press releases and additional press materials.

OFF holds no responsibility for lost or damaged prints. While the utmost care will be taken with regard to prints, it is solely up to the filmmaker to take full responsibility (i.e.insurance). The cost of delivery and pick-up of all materials is the responsibility of the filmmaker.

Thanks for selecting and screening “Bay For Blood” at your festival! I wasn’t able to attend the event in person as I had to attend a wedding of a close friend, but was impressed with the detailed and frequent communication. I had a very good experience overall, and will definitely consider submitting future projects to this festival.

What a truly delightful festival, from beginning to end--Emelyn, Andre, and the rest of the team do their absolute very best to make sure everyone feels welcome, celebrated, and valued. I'm so grateful to have had the world premiere of my feature, A Taste of Youth, at this festival--couldn't have asked for a better experience! I highly recommend submitting to this festival, where you are more than just a number (also--they actually tell you the feedback from the judges about why your film was selected before the screening! Amazing!)

The Ocktober Film Festival treats their filmmakers like royalty. From having badges ready to free admission for screenings to personalized talkbacks, the organizers go all out to make sure everyone whose work is being shown feels special. Cannot recommend this fest enough. Emelyn and Andre are the best of the best.

This is a Film Festival that I can honestly say was a great experience from soup to nuts. Emelyn Stuart who runs the festival is 100% for filmmakers getting the opportunity to have their projects seen. We were given the opportunity to spend a good amount of time meeting and talking with all the other filmmakers which on its own was fantastic. Just the fact that at that initial meeting with everyone else, everyone was fed, the creator of the festival made sure she got to speak one on one with everyone in the room, and everyone who attended festival screenings whether filmmakers or audience from off the street were admitted for free made the whole experience unforgettable in the best way. We are very proud that our feature film , Pancakes and Syrup was given the award for best feature film 2024 but honestly, the award was just the cherry on top of a welcoming, warm, supportive, and joyful event. Really something special.
