In 2024-25 Nur Box Theatre will present a selection of Music Videos from around the world. This years call will be for Music Videos only, meaning visual media overtop a musical performance or recorded in collaboration with a musical artist or group.

Nur Box Experimental Film Festival is a free and publicly accessible film festival that focuses on shorts with calls for different genera each season. Nur Box’s sole purpose is to provide Calgarians access to view locally and internationally produced independent works of short film, video, and media art, which might otherwise be inaccessible to the general public.

Seeing a need for a platform for experimental films and animation, Nur Box strives to showcase the very best in experimental, and traditional, audio visual projects from around the world.

Nur Box started as a modular theatre with Box's positioned in public and private spaces all across the city waiting for curious explorers. The programming is dynamic and sometimes challenging but always worth the time. Due to Covid the festival has been changed from daily screenings hosted in our modular box theaters to an annual festival.

Taking place at the creative hub cSPACE in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, the one day festival will take place in the Tree House theatre rooms and is free to the public.

Accepted films will be programmed in short packages and screened multiple times throughout the day. www.nurboxtheatre.com

All programming decisions are the sole prerogative of Nur Box Theatre and it's partners.

A festival favorite film will be chosen by audience vote.

In 2024-25 the festival will focus on music video works from all styles and genera's of music.

Nur Box staff, guest curators, and or an adjudicating committee will select all films. Packages and screenings are under the sole discrepancy of Nur Box staff. Films will be made accessible to the general public free of charge through the physical Nur Box Theater installations and or a screening venue. Films will not be screened in any context outside of the Nur Box theaters or festivals unless otherwise discussed and or approved by copyright holders. As the box and screening facility is accessible to all, including unsupervised children, most selections made for the public boxes and all selections made for the Experimental Film Festival will be rated PG with no course language, nudity or gratuitous violence. However content that falls outside of that rating (as decided by Nur Box staff) can be selected and programmed in roaming boxes that are in more controlled environments and or as part of other scheduled screenings. All screenings are under the sole discretion of Nur Box Theatre.

I wish I could have actually been in Canada to witness this very clever and exciting way to deliver content. Thank you again for choosing our project to show in your box!!

    Response from festival:

Thanks so much for your kind review. Your screening package went so well we decided to keep it up for another few weeks. We will try to get a pic of someone in the box watching your film to send you if we can.
