Nouxfest is an outdoor sports festival in Nuuksio, Espoo, Finland on Aug 13-16, 2026. As part of the festival, we are organizing an outdoor short film competition that celebrates the beauty and adventure of outdoor activities and the wonderful, delicate nature in which we can enjoy these pursuits.

We invite filmmakers to submit their short films, up to 8 minutes in length, that showcase the joy of outdoor activities, whether in summer or winter. The genre of the film can be anything from an acted short film to a documentary, music video, landscape film, or even an animation. The film should be related to either summer or winter outdoor activities and should focus on creating a compelling story and atmosphere.

The competition has two categories: summer and winter. A jury will evaluate the films and select the best ones to be awarded and presented at Nouxfest's stage program. The submission deadline is July 15, 2026, and the jury's selections will be announced by August 9, 2026.

The winners of both series will be awarded Sony headphones.
Directors of films selected for the Nouxfest stage program will receive two Nouxfest Adventure Passes for the day the film is screened.

Rules & Terms

The film must not be more than 8 minutes long.

The film must be related to outdoor activities. The review emphasizes the film's story and atmosphere.

There are two categories in the competition: one for films related to summer and one to winter activities.

There are no special technical requirements for the film, but it must be adapted to be shown on a big screen at the event (in landscape format).

Participation is free of charge.

The authors are responsible for the film's copyright.

By joining, the filmmakers grant Nouxfest the permission to show the film on the big screen during the event and in possible screenings afterwards without separate compensation. Other distribution, e.g. showing the film on Nouxfest's website, will be agreed separately with the creators.
