The North Carolina Family Film Festival is committed to bringing high quality films to Northeastern North Carolina and creating opportunities for filmmakers and film lovers to meet and exchange ideas.

Our unique mix of international films, films from various States of the Union as well as our highlight series for local filmmakers creates an open and fruitful environment for spectators and attending filmmakers alike. In the past we have screened films from the United States, Pakistan, India, Germany, Holland, Italy, Spain, South Africa as well as Northeastern North Carolina.
Our steadily increasing attendance and filmmaker participation has once again earned us the support of the North Carolina Arts Council.

Following input from our filmmakers we will change our format slightly for our 7th edition in 2017.
We are expanding our short film blocks from 3 to 6 and our audience together with our judges will choose the winners for our "Best Off" Awards (see Awards and Prizes for categories).

The 7th edition of the festival will take place Oct. 6th to Oct 9th 2017. As always we will have educational outreach, live screenings and Our "Dinner and a movie" event on Sundays. In addition we will have a Saturday night event where we will present the winners in conjunction with a North Carolina produced feature film at an outdoor screening in Downtown Murfreesboro.

Awards & Prizes

Every selected film will receive the official selection laurels for use in their promotional material. Also every selected filmmaker will receive a complimentary festival pass if they wish to attend.
6 "Best Off" Awards will be selected by our judges in conjunction with the audience.

Best NC short (narrative or doc up to 20min incl. credits)
Best Short Short (narrative or doc up to 7 min. incl. credits)
Best Video (music video, experimental film, PSA - 3 minutes max)
Best of Fest (feature film or short)
Each Award winner will receive laurels (as digital file and printed in person if present for Saturday screening) and a 50$ cash award.

Rules & Terms

Upcoming Deadlines and Fees:
Entry period for the 2017 festival is Jan. 13th to July 31st, 2017.
Entry fee varies by deadline (see submissions)
The selection will be announced August 21st.
All films will be screened at the festival from SD-DVD or Blu Ray Disk or as High Def QT files. Once the selected filmmakers are informed about the decision it is the responsibility of the filmmaker to ship the screening copy to the festival organizers or provide the organizers with a link to the uploaded file for download (specs will be given to the selected filmmakers at the time of the notification.)
-All non-English films must have English sub-titles.
-The Festival cannot be liable for screeners which may be lost or damaged.
-The entrant will be responsible for ALL SHIPPING FEES.
-Film selection will be made by the Festival Committee and screening is at the sole discretion of the North Carolina Family Film Festival.
-Entry fees are non-refundable and submission does not guarantee that the entry will be accepted to the festival for a screening.
-Entries will not be previewed without entry fee payment.
-If your film is selected, we will ask you to send us a still image or press kit for promotional purposes.
-All films selected for the Festival grant the North Carolina Family Film Festival the rights to use parts of the film (less than 30 sec) for promotional purposes.
