Nollywood Canada International Film Festival, a monthly ONLINE FILM SCREENING & AWARDS platform, is an organization with a mission to give DISADVANTAGED INDEPENDENT FILM MAKERS a platform to showcase their talent. We issue ''award winning'' or ''festival selection'' laurels every two months.

Every two months, film makers from Multi-Genre, Multiracial, Multicultural, Multi-Religious & Multi-Gender background submit their film for a chance to obtain our festival laurel or award certificate.

​YOU NEED a respectable film festival laurel from NOLLYWOOD CANADA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL to help you promote & market your film.

EVERY FILM SUBMITTED will receive an ''OFFICIAL SELECTION'' laurel. This laurel will help you promote your film.

​Our highest award is the OSCAR MICHEAUX AWARD. At the end of every two months, the award is given to any OUTSTANDING INDEPENDENT FILM.

​We have a lot of other awards as well. We strongly encourage you to submit your film for award consideration to as many category as you can- in order to maximize your winning chances.

People will pay to see your film online, at the theater, or buy your DVD if they see our RESPECTABLE film festival laurel or award certificate on your promotional material- like your film trailer, poster, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram & Vimeo Page.

LAUREL & AWARD CERTIFICATE:

To keep our submission cost as low as possible, we will send you the festival laurels as a jpeg file. We will also send our OSCAR MICHEAUX AWARD wining certificate through email.

All submitted film will receive an immediate ''OFFICIAL SELECTION'' laurel. This laurel will help you promote your film.

NOTE: If you submit your film ONLY ON THE AWARDS CATEGORY (for example on the ''BEST HORROR'' category alone), your film WILL NOT receive the immediate ''OFFICIAL SELECTION'' laurel.
To receive the immediate ''OFFICIAL SELECTION'' laurel, you MUST enter your film on any of the category from #1 to #26 (i.e from SHORT NARRATIVE to BOLLYWOOD- FEATURE ANIMATION).

OSCAR MICHEAUX AWARD:

All submitted SHORT & FEATURE films will qualify as a contender for our highest award- the OSCAR MICHEAUX award.
As the first independent film maker, and the most successful indie film maker of the 20th century, Oscar Micheaux was ahead of his time.

In NCIFF, we believe that every disadvantaged independent film maker of today, is ahead of her/his time.

NCIFF also believe that all disadvantaged independent film makers must be given a chance to shine.

We strongly encourage you to enter your film in an award category, in order to maximize your chances of winning an award.

At the end of every two months, NCIFF will reward any OUTSTANDING FILM with the OSCAR MICHEAUX AWARD certificate, and an AWARD WINNER laurel. NCIFF reserves the right to not issue the OSCAR MICHEAUX AWARD if at the end of a thorough review, we did not find any film as ''OUTSTANDING''.

NCIFF WILL ALSO RECOMMEND QUALIFIED FILMS TO OUR FILM SALES REPS FOR DISTRIBUTION CONSIDERATION.
We will only send your film for distribution consideration after we receive a written permission from you.

Feature films are films that has got 40 minutes running time. Films that have got more than 40 minutes running time, is still considered as feature film.

Short Films are films that has got running time below 40 minutes.

NCIFF presents all films in their original language. Non-English language films must have English subtitles

NCIFF accepts WORKS IN PROGRESS.

We accept submission only through FilmFreeway.

After submitting, please check your FilmFreeway account to make sure that your submission meets our requirements and is 'In Consideration'. It is your responsibility to make sure all requirements are met and necessary information is given.

NCIFF reserves the right to use images from films selected in Festival marketing purposes (web; print media, and television).

Once an entry payment has been received we cannot provide a refund. If a payment is disputed by an entrant for any reason, the entrant may be subject to any transaction fees or similar amounts incurred by NCIFF in connection with the dispute.

ORIGINALITY & PERMISIONS: INDEMNITY:

Films must be the original work of the applicants. If a film is based upon another person’s life or upon a book or other underlying work, applicant(s) must secure any necessary rights to make such adaptations. It is not necessary to submit the adaptation rights agreements to the Festival. Neither the Festival nor its jurists investigates or attests to the authenticity of an applicant’s statement of authorship or rights secured. By entering the competition, you represent that you have secured all necessary rights.

Applicants are solely responsible for obtaining all necessary rights and permissions for third-party materials included in their films, including but not limited to music, trademarks, logos, copyrights, and other intellectual property rights. NCIFF expressly disclaims all liability or responsibility for any violations of the foregoing.

PLEASE NOTE:

Nollywood International Film Festival does NOT waive entry fees. NCIFF believes waiving entry fees hurts the integrity of the competition. The same rules and entry fees should apply to all applicants, so no one film is favored over another.

We understand the financial constraint of filmmaking, and costs of submitting to festivals, and we still hope you can find it in your budget to submit your film.

SELECTED FILMS & WINNERS:

NCIFF has no obligation (other than as stated in these rules or on our website) to disclose any of the following information: i) identities of screeners or judges; ii) notes, feedback, or information relating to the submitted project; and/or iii) details regarding the submission review or selection process.

NCIFF explicitly disclaims any liability or responsibility for any comments, notes, or opinions expressed about a submission, whether by NCIFF or by its volunteers.
The judges’ decision is final.

COMPETITION CERTIFICATION:

I/We have read all of the rules, understand, and have complied with these rules.

I/We warrant the submission of my/our original work; and that there are no disputes regarding the ownership of the submission.

I/We also warrant the submitted material does not defame or invade the rights of any person living or dead.

To the best of my/our knowledge, all the statements herein are true and correct.

I/We understand that failure to adhere to the competition rules and regulations will result in disqualification and forfeiture of entry fee.

I/We acknowledge that once an entry payment has been processed, NCIFF will not provide a refund.

With the exception of materials that are submitted as WORK IN PROGRESS, No revisions of materials will be accepted once entry has been submitted.

BY SUBMITTING THE MATERIAL, I/WE HEREBY AGREES TO INDEMNIFY, HOLD HARMLESS, AND DEFEND THE FESTIVAL (NCIFF), ITS EMPLOYEES, DIRECTORS, REPRESENTATIVES, AND AFFILIATES FROM ALL LIABILITY, CLAIMS, AND DAMAGES IN CONNECTION WITH THE SUBMISSION AND FROM ANY FEES AND EXPENSES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO REASONABLE ATTORNEYS’ FEES, THAT ANY OF THEM MAY INCUR IN CONNECTION THEREWITH.
