The second annual NEW YORK TRANSGENDER FILM FESTIVAL celebrates films that are for, created by, and are about our Trans+ community...Transgender, Non-Binary, Gender Non-Conforming, Intersex and Two-Spirit.

We're excited to present an event that showcases stories of our trans community and the talented queer creators that bring these vital projects to life, in a uniquely historical queer environment.

Very often with a general LGBTQIA+ festival- trans stories are an "addition", but the New York Transgender Film Festival is all about US!

NYTFF is presented as part of the Trans Celebration Weekend (Sept 13-15), with a series of events that speak to the trans/non-binary experience. A weekend exclusively for our trans community to come together to celebrate queer writers, filmmakers and performers.

This amazing event will be held at the Cherry Grove Theater in Fire Island, which has national recognition as the longest running LGBTQ+ theater in the United States.

Awards & Prizes

Jury and Audience awards are given for Best Narrative Feature, Best Documentary Feature, Best Short.

Rules & Terms

The New York Transgender Film Festival accepts films of any length and genre by, about, and of interest to transgender, intersectional and queer people.

Submitted works will be screened and selected by the festival submissions screening committee. Final decisions will be made no later than August 15, 2024. Filmmakers will be notified if selected by e-mail.

Works with non-English dialogue must have English subtitled exhibition materials, unless notified in writing by the maker.

The copyright must be available, and no film with a date before 2022.

We accept online submissions through FilmFreeway.

PREVIEW FORMAT
Preview submissions must be submitted via secure online screener (e.g. vimeo.com with password), or through a secure online link via FilmFreeway. Online submissions are handled through FilmFreeway via a secure online link of your film (uploaded films must be in their entirety; trailers will not be considered).

ROUGH CUTS & WORKS-IN-PROGRESS
Rough cuts and works-in-progress are eligible for submission only if completed by August 1, 2024.

NOTIFICATION
All FilmFreeway submissions will be marked "In Consideration" once payment, entry forms, and an online link of the film have all been received. If you would like hardcopy notification of receipt of your entry, please include a self addressed stamped postcard with your DVD entry. Entrants will be notified of festival selections by the end of July 2024. Extended Deadline submissions will be notified no later than August 15, 2024.

DELIVERY OF PROJECT
All films must be in a digital format (mov, mp4) and sent to NYTFF organizers at least two weeks before screening date.

LIVE ONLINE SCREENING
Films may be viewed online during live screenings.

PRESS MATERIALS
After your film is accepted, please send high quality digital images from your film (minimum 300dpi in a tiff or jpeg format for MAC only) emailed to parkerMsargent@gmail.com. Please also send along Electronic Press Kits or any other publicity materials you may have (if available). High quality stills make a significant difference in press coverage for accepted films.
