Nepal Africa International Film Festival (NAIFF) was first organized by CJMC in 2011. In 2021 the festival was organized by Bilakshan Creation, CJMC and co-organized by Film Development Board, Nepal.
Each every year 30 feature/documentary and short movies from various African and international countries and 20 Nepali feature/documentary and short Nepali movies are selected by our screening committee for the festival. Our underlying purpose behind this initiative are excerpted below:
NAIFF seeks to provide an unbiased and integrated representation of Africa in Nepal and worldwide cinema. we promotion of nepali, African and world cinema.

A- International Section
We feature Asian, African, American, European, Australian films in the international section. In addition to promoting the cinema of the world, the aim of the international section is to select the best international films, documentaries, short films, their directors and actors and reward them.

B-Africa section :
Explore "Africa through African lens", primarily to highlight incongruousness in mainstream narrative of Africa. There are 53 countries in Africa and apart from South Africa and Egypt none have their representatives here in Nepal. Therefore, the festival intends to serve as a bridge between Africa and Nepal and alleviate cultural and informational gap. Facilitate cultural exchange by inviting participation of government bodies and African universities.

C-Nepali section
In the Nepali section, we compete among Nepali features, short films and documentaries, and the films of the tribal tribes of Nepal and select their directors, artists, and technicians and reward them. The purpose of the Nepali section is to promote Nepali films.

  • Nepal Africa International Film Festival is a genuinely warm and meaningful platform for independent filmmakers. The communication was clear and respectful, and the festival team showed great care throughout the process.

I’m deeply grateful to festival director Dabbu Kshetri for the professionalism and personal attention. Even though I couldn’t attend in person, the team made sure everything—from updates to the award delivery—was handled with sincerity and transparency.

The selection reflects strong curatorial intent, and the jury’s engagement with films feels thoughtful and honest. I highly appreciate the festival’s commitment to diverse voices and authentic storytelling.

Wishing the festival continued growth and success. I would happily submit my future work again.
