The Nederland International Film Festival is held at the Backdoor Theatre in Nederland Colorado, focusing on the out of the ordinary and dramatically different films that you will not find at the standard Hollywood CinemaScope. We carefully curate a full program of films that make a statement and have a story to tell; past, present & out there in the future.

We celebrate the visionaries of film centered around music in this special place, the independent thinkers, creatives, individualists that explore alternative cultures, life styles and visions and all the many ways that can manifest in film. We look forward to seeing you at our 5th Annual Nederland International Film Festival.

We highly encourage you to submit ALL submission materials online through FilmFreeway. If online entry is not possible, please submit 1 Blu Ray preferably or 1 DVD if Blu Ray is not possible. (any region, NTSC encouraged). Please do not include any promotional materials in your submission. We will collect high-resolution photographs of official selection films once they have been accepted into the Festival.

Film entries may be of any subject pertaining to the categories defined, from any country, and of any length. Submitted films should either be in English or include English subtitles. If the film is selected for the Festival, it is the responsibility of the filmmaker to provide 1 Blu Ray preferably or 1 DVD if Blu Ray is not possible.
If you choose to submit your film by mail you are responsible for all shipping charges to DHFF and for any customs clearances and/or associated fees and taxes. Entry materials will not be returned. All film makers will be added to our mailing list that submit.

We really appreciate you sending your work to us and giving us the opportunity to program it for our Festival. Obviously, films are the foundation of our festival, and we appreciate the vision, creativity, time, commitment, and money that went into your work. Thank you.

Had a really lovely experience with this small, well-organized and thoughtfully curated festival. So appreciated the live screenings in the Backdoor Theater, the friendly staff, audience Q&A session, and being a part of a fantastic program of films from around the world!

  • At this very nice, small town festival in the beautiful Colorado Rockies, the organizers are kind and very communicative. It was delightful to be a part of the program this year, and I plan to submit again in the future.
