Nathan Tape is a filmmaker raised in the Deep South who tells bold, visually striking stories about outsiders and the fringes of society. With a background in photography and music, his work is known for its strong visual style and rhythmic energy. He earned a BA from Loyola University New Orleans and an MFA in Film Production from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
After returning to Louisiana, Nathan worked his way up from lighting crew to gaffer on major productions like Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, Night Teeth, and Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger. He has also shot several shorts and features, including Stick Up, The King of New Orleans, and Demigod.
Nathan’s award-winning short MORIAH screened at festivals worldwide. His debut feature OFF RAMP, a darkly comedic road movie about two lovable Juggalos searching for belonging, won big awards at Splat!, Chattanooga, New Orleans, Boston Underground, and Sherman Oaks. The film is now distributed internationally. And a special Edition Blu-ray has just been released by Refuse Films.
Living in New Orleans, Nathan is fueled by peanut butter, Saints football, and a passion for teaching film at Loyola University.
