Held in Windhoek, Namibia, every September, the Namibia Film Week is designed to engage the local audience in a celebration of cinema. This weeklong event showcases a diverse array of short films, feature films, and documentaries produced by talented Namibian filmmakers. The event aims to foster a collaborative environment, bringing together filmmakers and industry professionals, enhancing appreciation for cinema, and forging valuable connections within the industry. The event is now accepting film submissions from international filmmakers.

Submission Criteria

Eligibility

• Country of Origin: Open to films from all countries.
• Production Date: Films must have been completed after January 1, 2023 and not screened at Film Week 2023.
• Language: Non-English films must have English subtitles.
• Premiere Status: Film does not have to be a premiere
• Genres: Accepting short films, feature films, documentaries, and animations.

Technical Requirements

• Format: Digital submissions only via FilmFreeway, DCP formats will be required for screening.
• Resolution: Minimum 1080p.
• Duration: Short films (under 30 minutes), Feature films (over 60 minutes).

Submission Process

• Platform: Submissions through FilmFreeway.
• Materials: Include a film synopsis (250 words max), director’s biography (150 words max), press kit, and high-resolution film poster.

• Originality: 25%
• Storytelling: 25%
• Technical Quality: 20%
• Acting: 15%
• Direction: 15%

Legal Requirements

• Rights: Filmmaker must confirm they hold all necessary rights.
• Clearances: Must provide evidence of music, footage, and other content clearances.
• Permissions: Filmmaker must authorize public screening of the film.
• Screening fee: Films are screened at no fee
