In the heart of Naples Northen Area, NaNo Film Festival wants to give visibility to innovative short movies from all over the world, by rewarding authors' creativity.
NaNo Film, organization which founded the Festival, has a mission: put into its territory new cultural lifeblood, to make the seeds of creativity, imagination and knowledge grow into new generations' minds.

Nel cuore dell'area Nord di Napoli, il NaNo Film Festival vuole dare visibilità a cortometraggi innovativi provenienti da tutto il mondo, premiando la creatività degli autori. 
Mission della NaNo Film, associazione fondatrice del Festival, è immettere nella propria terra nuova linfa vitale e culturale, al fine di far germogliare nelle nuove generazioni i semi della creatività, dell’immaginazione e del sapere. 
Il NaNo Film Festival ha ottenuto il supporto del Ministero della Cultura e della FCRC.

Awards & Prizes

CATEGORIES IN COMPETITION
To partecipate, short movies must fit in one of the following categories and last under 30 minutes:
- Comedy Short
- Drama Short
- Documentary Short
- Animation Short - Every technique is allowed. Animation for at least 70% of total runtime.
- Corto Campano - Every genre is allowed. The short film must be a Campania premiere, author must be born in the Italian region Campania, or the short movie must have been realized in Campania.

For each category, at most 5 short movies will be selected. Among these, the Best *Category* Short will be awarded with a trophy.
All the short movies will run for the cash prize (150,00 €) and the title of Best Movie.

PARALLEL SECTION CATEGORIES
- DOCUMENTARY FEATURE, for movies with a runtime of 52 minutes or more;
- MUSIC VIDEO, for videos with a runtime under 8 minutes.
Best Documentary Feature and Best Music Video will win a trophy and a surprise sponsor award.
Three Documentary Feature Films will be selected and screened, also getting a screening fee (50,00 €). The fee will be paid by bank transfer on a bank account chosen by the selected films (author, distributor or producer). We want to give documentarists this extra prize to push documentary productions and spread documentary works.

Prizes will be assigned by unquestionable judgement of the Jury, which at the case could also give other prizes or special mentions.

CATEGORIE IN CONCORSO
Per partecipare, i cortometraggi devono appartenere a una delle seguenti categorie e durare al massimo 30 minuti:
Corto Comedy - genere: commedia
Corto Drama - genere: drammatico
Corto Documentary - genere: documentario
Corto Animation - genere: animazione per almeno il 70% - qualsiasi tecnica è ammessa
Corto Campano - genere: qualsiasi - il corto deve essere alla sua anteprima in Campania, l'autore dev'essere nato in Campania e/o il corto dev'essere stato girato in Campania

Per ogni categoria verranno selezionati 5 cortometraggi. I film selezionati saranno proiettati per la Giuria Popolare che eleggerà il Miglior Corto di ogni Categoria, premiato con un award. 
Tutti i cortometraggi concorreranno al premio in denaro di € 150,00, corrispondente al titolo di Miglior Film, assegnato dalla Giuria di Qualità.

SEZIONI PARALLELE

- DOCUMENTARY FEATURE, per documentari con una durata maggiore o uguale a 52 minuti;
- MUSIC VIDEO, per videoclip musicali dalla durata massima di 8 minuti.

Il Miglior Documentario e il Miglior Videoclip saranno premiati con un premio speciale.

Saranno selezionati e proiettati 3 Documentary Feature, che otterranno anche una screening fee (50,00 €). La fee sarà pagata tramite bonifico bancario su un conto designato da chi rappresenta il Film selezionato (sia esso autore/autrice, produzione, distribuzione). Vogliamo dare ai documentaristi questo riconoscimento extra al fine di incentivare la produzione e la diffusione di documentari.

I premi saranno assegnati a insindacabile giudizio della Giuria, la quale si riserva la possibilità di istituire categorie e menzioni speciali, qualora lo ritenesse opportuno.

Rules & Terms

1) NaNo Film Festival welcomes every author, with no age or country limits.
2) Each author can submit to the Festival with no more than two works.
3) To participate to the contest, movies must:
- be realized from January 2024;
- have a specific runtime, according to the category.
4) The submission is completed only after the payment of a fee.
5) Authors declare to possess the full rights of the submitted works and to be responsible for everything connected to them.
6) If the works are not in Italian, they MUST come with Ita or Eng subs.
7) The selected movies will be invited to provide via mail a poster, a trailer and, eventually, some more information and data; otherwise, the selection will be canceled.
8) With the submission, the authors give the authorization to live screen the selected movies and to use clips of those works for reasons connected to the promotion of NaNo Film Festival.
9) Once selected, if they’re not in Italian, works MUST have Italian subs to be screened. We can provide Ita subs for an extra fee.
10) Once selected, works cannot be withdrawn from the competition, otherwise a legal fee could be required to cover printing costs.
11) Cash prize will be paid by bank transfer on a bank account chosen by the winner (author, distributor or producer) only if he/she will be present during the Award Ceremony.

1) Il Festival è aperto a tutti gli autori, senza vincoli d’età o provenienza geografica.
2) Ogni autore può partecipare al Festival con massimo 2 lavori.
3) Per essere ammessi al concorso, i lavori devono:
- essere stati realizzati a partire da gennaio 2024;
- avere una durata consentita dalla categoria di riferimento.
4) L'iscrizione al Festival si considera completa solo dopo il pagamento di una quota d’iscrizione.
5) Gli autori dichiarano di possedere e disporre interamente dei diritti delle opere inviate e si assumono ogni tipo di responsabilità a essi connessa.
6) Qualora le opere non fossero in italiano, è obbligatorio inserire i sottotitoli in italiano o in inglese.
7) I film selezionati saranno invitati a inviare a mezzo mail una locandina e un trailer dell'opera, assieme a eventuali informazioni e dati aggiuntivi, pena la decadenza della selezione.
8) Con l'iscrizione, gli autori autorizzano il Festival di proiettare i lavori in concorso e ad utilizzare estratti dei suddetti lavori per motivi relativi alla promozione del Festival.
9) Una volta selezionati, se non sono in lingua italiana, i lavori devono avere sottotitoli in italiano per essere proiettati. Con una quota extra, possiamo realizzare suddetti sottotitoli.
10) Una volta selezionati, i lavori non possono essere ritirati dalla competizione, altrimenti si incorrerà in una penale volta a coprire costi di stampa già sostenuti.
11) Il premio in denaro sarà pagato tramite bonifico bancario sul conto indicato dal vincitore (autore, distributore o produttore) solo se il suddetto vincitore sarà presente durante la Cerimonia di premiazione.

    We were fortunate to be selected for this past edition of the NaNo Film Festival, where our film Hearts of Stone was also honored with the Shorts TV Award. Visiting the festival was a true delight: the event is run by a passionate team of filmmakers who bring both care and professionalism to every detail. Although I was only able to stay for one night, the team ensured everything went smoothly and made me feel truly welcome.

    The film program was equally impressive, combining some of the strongest titles on the circuit with local standouts—screened thoughtfully with English subtitles for international guests. NaNo is a festival that sets its sights high and delivers with warmth, dedication, and charm, right in the heart of beautiful Naples.
