Enter the NYC Play Reading Festival for the chance to have your play be one of the top plays selected for the festival of readings and networking events in the city that can launch your play from the page to the stage. The NYC Play Reading Festival gives playwrights the opportunity to have their plays read by actors in NYC for a specially invited audience of industry professionals the week of February 24, 2025.

Awards & Prizes

Top entries will be awarded distinction in its category and assigned actors for a reading in NYC's Theatre District with industry professionals. An award ceremony will conclude the festival, and awards will be given for the following categories:

Best Full-Length Drama
Best Full-Length Comedy
Best Short Drama
Best Short Comedy
Overall Festival Winner

Rules & Terms

Straight plays only; no musicals. Playwrights may enter more than one play for consideration.

    Keely Baisden Knudsen and her crew were absolutely amazing! The play Reading Festival was so well organized and beautifully coordinated. My play BILLY AND GEORGE was chosen as one of the finalist for a play reading with an invited audience. The actors did an amazing job in bringing the play to life at a historic theatre building in the heart of the NYC theatre district!. From this reading, I have already had discussions with industry professionals who attended and even some interest in further productions.
