The NOLA Horror Film Fest is a festival created by horror filmmakers for horror fans. It’s no small wonder - and no great surprise - that so many of today’s top directors got their start in “low budget horror”. With determination and imagination, these artists have created some truly memorable work that has encouraged and inspired a new generation of filmmakers. Our goal is the promotion of Genre Filmmaking in Louisiana, as well as nationally and internationally. The NOLAHFF is committed to celebrating the craft and advancing the art form of Genre Films.

***** Selected as one of the WORLD'S 50 BEST GENRE FILM FESTIVALS by MovieMaker Magazine *****

“The festival is tucked into the sleepy Garden District, which is magical in itself,” said one attendee, who also stated the obvious: “Most of the food you’ll find in this city is excellent.” And the ghosts are also of very high quality. “The festival coordinators planned an outing for moviemaker where we took a Ghost Tour of the French Quarter in New Orleans,” another filmmaker said. “It was a blast!” The festival team, quality of the presentation and audience, and, of course, the Crescent City also scored highly. The midnight WTF Shorts Block is known for raising the most experimental spirits in genre cinema, and the fest also earned respect for its championing of female filmmakers and LGBT+ horror. - MovieMaker Magazine

Even though the festival is called NOLA Horror Film Fest, the NOLAHFF accepts ALL SUB-GENRES: Horror / Science Fiction / Fantasy / Thriller / Suspense / Psychological / Action / Gothic / Dark Drama / Dark Comedy / Horror Comedy / B-Movie / Campy / Experimental / Documentary

I was priviliged for my shortfilm BLOODSHED to have its U.S. Premiere at NOLAHFF 2020. Wonderful selection of films, the communication was terrific and great Q & A's. New Orleans is an incredible city and it would've been amazing to attend in person but the Festival did an outstanding job going virtual. The founder, JT, is genuinely passionate about genre film and it shows. Will definitely be submitting future projects. Thank you!

This was my first year submitting to NOLA and I am so glad I did. JT created a fun, interactive experience despite the difficulties of COVID. I loved the Q & A and the interaction with the audience as they were watching "Cybolica."Even if our film had not won an award, it was a great experience. I will definitely be entering another film next year. Thank you JT!

  • This was my forth time screening at this fantastic festival and JT did a phenomenal job of putting together a virtual festival under current circumstances. The ability to take part in Q & A this year was also a pleasure and high point for me. The program of films, as always, was excellent and being able to watch virtually was a definite treat. I can't say enough about this great festival and all of the work and passion that JT brings to it!

JT did such a great job of handling the curve ball of an unexpected online format. Had an excellent time engaging with other filmmakers and making some nice connections. Would highly recommend submitting to NOLA. I hope that next time we can be there in person! Excited to submit again!
