NC Filmworks is a film event and festival for middle and high school students (Grades 6-12) in North Carolina. Participating students must attend a school with an active ITS Troupe. Students will have one week to write, produce, and edit a short film. The film must include a set of specific criteria (selection of genre from a list, a line of dialogue, and a specific costume item or prop).

The contest will open at 9:00 am on Monday, October 23 and will close at 11:59 pm on Monday, October 30.

The live screening will take place on Saturday, January 27 at Greensboro College in Greensboro, NC.

Registration and payment must be received no later than October 22.

-Best Use of the Prop

The creative team who produced the winning film will also receive the following:
-A Public Screening of their film at the NC Thespian Festival
-A Chance to participate in Film Thespys at the International Thespian Festival in June (as long as the winning film receives a Superior Rating)

All films who receive Superior ratings will be able to participate in Film Thespys at the International Thespian Festival in June.

-Team leaders must be middle or high school students (grades 6-12) attending a North Carolina school with a current International Thespian Society troupe. Adults may participate as actors only. They will not be eligible for acting awards.

-The film must be made in the one week period of time. All footage must be original to the film. No stock footage is allowed. The body of the film can be no longer than 5 minutes. Films will have 1 additional minute for end credits. Any credits at the beginning of the film will count toward the 5 minutes allowed for the body of the film.

-All legal permissions and rights must be obtained prior to the submission of the film. Releases and necessary paperwork can be found at www.ncthespians.org. See the website for more details.
