The Mykonos Biennale is an intellectual event which brings together the work of artists from all over the world to create something new, to break the borders of art, using the telluric energy and hermetic beauty of this cosmopolitan island.

The international multicultural events will interact with the local memories, traditions and historical spaces creating a unique experimental event.

The art exhibitions, the installations, and performances of the artists, the musicians and dance group will spread through out the monasteries, the museums, the old houses, the ancient island of Delos, the windmills and other monumental buildings, like a treasure map of the old island. The heart of the Mykonos Biennale is the video film festival which in 2025 is divided into two categories:

Video Graffiti - Throughout the old town of Mykonos, famous for its white building and thus often called the bride of the Aegean, art videos will be projected on the walls of houses and gardens transforming this town that never sleeps into a living theatre of video graffiti.

Dramatic Nights - A selection narrative short films, documentary and art videos will be screened in the open air theatre of the island and at the important Gryparion center.

Nine- The Amphibian is the theme of the 2025 Mykonos Biennale.

Numbers are akin to wine or narcotics; they intoxicate us. How many souls have vanished in the rooms of Monte Carlo or Las Vegas, mesmerized and lost? Money governs all. It is merely an abstract power, printed paper adorned with countless zeros. Money is god; when nature cries out that the emperor is naked, it simply does not exist.

Nine is a number—a number that the Nuer people, an African tribe, do not count. If you add or subtract nine from a series of numbers, nine remains invisible. Nine is the magnetic spiral. It embodies rhea, a force that assassinates time (chronos) through a divine conspiracy. Just as rhea, the feminine principle, cannot end her own existence while birthing.

Nine will consume all other numbers, devouring both odds and evens. Like an amoeba, it will emerge as the new unit. Nine is the python, which has hibernated for years. Apollo bound it with numbers when time stripped away the sanctuaries of Earth. Yet now we wander toward the sun of eternal night, and the python will stretch, preparing to burrow into the core of the Earth.

From the pain of this world, a ring of tension encircles the nucleus of the Earth. Through internal light, it radiates. In the sea, lightning devours the elements, gaining mass and form. The flames, the water, and the air coalesce into lava. Lava envelops the children, the mountains, nature, and the souls. Into the abyss, the souls gestate within the seed, waiting for the ice age to pass, dreaming.

The spiral, the healing serpent of Asclepius and Imhotep, the thirteenth zodiac, Unuk Elhaija, the Ophiuchus constellation—nine, the amphibian, gestates.

  • The best of the best. Was privileged enough to join in-person and it was an adventure I'll never forget.

  • My film was selected as part of the program. I think Mykonos Biennale is potential to be a special, niche festival that art makers or filmmakers can consider. The idea seems fantastic. Communication is good enough, they reply my email fast. The minus for me is only about appreciation for contributor. I've asked for acces to photo or video documentation particularly when my film is screened but I didn't receive it yet. For non profit events it is important to appreciate the contributor for example by giving access for documentation. Hope you get better in the next events, guys.
